EASTLAND — Services for Ione Evelyn Bownds, 96, of Weatherford will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Eastland with the Revs. Mark Bumpus officiating and Clinton Watson assisting.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Lorenzo Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002. [in Parker Co., Weatherford, TX]
She was born Sept. 5, 1905, in Eastland County and graduated from Gorman High School in 1925. She married John Irvin Bownds on Oct. 16, 1927, in Abilene. He died in 1940.
She moved to Eastland in 1943, where she was the Eastland County tax assessor-collector for 16 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church. She moved to Weatherford in 1998.
Survivors include her children, Doris Pylant of Mineral Wells and Berry Bownds of Big River, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
