Services for Millard A. Bowers, 72, of Granbury were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Lorenzo. Bowers died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday at Highland Hospital in Lubbock following a long illness.

Bowers was a native of Erath County. Before his retirement he farmed north of Lorenzo in the Estacado community.

Survivors include his wife, Ovie; a son, Wade of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Stone of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Madlyn Crump of Ralls; a sister, Mrs. Lois McGee of Acuff; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Services for Ovie Bowers, 89, of Ralls, were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 1997, in the Ralls First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Jim Morrow and the Rev. Floyd Haddock of Lubbock, a retired Baptist minister, and former pastor officiating.

Burial followed in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mrs. Bowers died at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in the Ralls Nursing Home.

She was born on October 6, 1907, in Fairy, TX, and married Millard Bowers on December 20, 1924, in Lorenzo, TX. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1976.

She moved to the Ralls area in 1976 from Granbury, TX, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church, where she served on the Benevolence Committee. She was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and a member of the Ralls Senior Citizens. She attended Wayland College.

A great-grandchild, Jay Crump, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Wade Bowers of Mesquite; two daughters, Evelyn Stone of Hattisburg, MS, and Madalyn Crump of Ralls; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
