Carl Frank Alverson was born to Roberta and Frank Alverson on Sept. 7, 1911 in Whitewright, Texas. (He always complained that school always started on his birthday.)He moved with his family to Lubbock, Texas when he was about 10 years old. He attended Lubbock High School and Texas Tech.
He married Johnnie Vaught November 4, 1933 in Plainview.
He and Johnnie moved from Ropesville, Texas to Lorenzo, Texas in 1942 where he farmed until his death at Mayo Clinic December 15, 1957.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lorenzo. He was also a 32nd degree mason.

Johnnie Mildred Bowman, of Lorenzo, passed away August 9th. Johnnie was born in Eastland County on February 26, 1917 to John and Clara Vaught. The family later moved to Lubbock where she graduated from Lubbock High in 1933 and then attended Texas Tech where she received her BA and Masters degrees. She began her teaching career at Ropesville before moving to Lorenzo where she taught for 35 years.
Johnnie married Carl Alverson in 1935. Carl passed away in 1958 and she married Jack Bowman in July of 1961. He preceded her in death in 2003. She remained in her home in Lorenzo until 2010 when she moved to Autumn House in Idalou.
Johnnie is survived by her daughter; Judy Miller of Lubbock, granddaughters; Susan Foster of Southlake, Sharon Loftis of Lubbock, Jackie Bowman of Los Angeles, a grandson; Casey Bowman of Los Angeles, a niece; Ernesteen Kelly of Lubbock, and two great grandsons.
The family would like to express great appreciation to the excellent staff of Autumn House for the wonderful care given to Johnnie in her final years. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Association of Lorenzo.
A private graveside service will precede a memorial service which will be held Tuesday at 11:00 in the Lorenzo Methodist Church under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
