In Memory of Warren EllisQuite a gloom was cast over our little town Wednesday morning when news came that Warner Ellis had passed to his home beyond
Warner was born Oct. 2, 1902, at Estacado and died Tuesday night, July 27th, at the sanitarium at Lubbock.
He was the youngest son of Mrs. Jennie Ellis and had suffered from typhoid fever for ten days. All was done that willing hands could, but God saw best to call him to a home where sickness and death never comes.
At 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with sad hearts many many sympathizing friends and grieved loved ones gathered at the Estacado cemetery to hear Rev. J. H. Word, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Lubbock pay the last tribute of respect to his remains after which he was laid away by the side of his father to await the resurrection morn.
Warner was endowed with generous qualities, was brave and courteious, always kind hearted and was loved by all those who knew him. It seems all too ssad that in his hands was placed the golden key that opens the Palace of Eternity, but we know "Death is but a path that must be trod, if man would ever pass to God."
He leaves behind to mourn his loss a mother, one sister and three brothers.
Mother, look up, the child of your bosom has but prepared the way and with outstretched arms he stands to welcome you when you come.
Brothers and sister, look to Him for help, though brother will clasp your hands no more on earth, yet those loving hands are up yonder beckoning "come."
Bow your heads to Christ and say "Thy will be done, I'll meet him where there is no sorrow or tears."
To the bereaved ones in their sorrow, the town and community extend all love and sympathy.
The sweetest words of comfort are "Not lost, but gone before."
