Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Simpson, 97, one of Crosbyton's oldest citizens, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church. Rev. Carl Grissom, pastor of Andrews First Baptist Church who is a former local pastor, officiated. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Simpson, who had been in failing health for some time, died about 10:30 a.m. Monday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a serious illness of about a week.
A native of Collin County, Mrs. Simpson was a member of the Baptist Church. She was member of the Gold Star Mothers organization formed shortly after World War I.
She was married to J.T. Simpson in 1879. Mr. Simpson died in 1935. The family moved to Crosby County in 1914.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil of Crosbyton, and Ross C. of Mountainview, Calif.' three daughters, Mrs. Carmen Bembry of Crosbyton, Mrs. Roy I. Carter of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. J.H. Davis, Lubbock; a brother, T. Helm, Lawton, Okla; 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Three children preceded her in death; Mrs. H.S. Starr, Mrs. Frank S. Farley and Capt. Floyd Ernest Simpson.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
