MEMORIAL SERVICE IS HELD AT CEMETERY SUNDAY
Grave of Soldier Killed in Action During War is Decorated
Following Memorial services in the different churches of the city Sunday morning, a memorial service was held at the Crosbyton cemetery in the afternoon at four o'clock. A large crowd was present and many flowers were placed around the graves.
The invocation was given by Rev. C.E. Dick after which Judge W.P. Walker delivered the address for the occasion. Judge Walker reviewed the different wars from the time of the settling of this country by pilgram fathers, and also from Texas Independence to the present time. This emmeorial day is the time we pause to do honor to those who have fallen on the battle field.
The firing squad was depicted by eight former service men. The services were held over the grave of Sargeant Ernest Simpson, who died in action at the Muese Argonne offensive, near St. Etne, France.
The former service men taking part in the firing squad were: Olen Littlefield, Emmett Roy, Quincy Hames, Geo. Crump, Dick Ragan, Joe Givens, Jim Williams, and Andy Anderson. Dr. F.A. Green was bugler and sounded taps.
The benediction was said by Rev. W. Frazier Smith.
