Memorial services for Crosbyton native Martha Dean Shipman were at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel Baptist Church in Spur. The Rev. Sam Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church of Spur, officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery.

Mrs. Shipman, 53, was claimed by death at 4 a.m. Friday in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a prolonged illness.

The former Martha Dean Barnes was married to Wallace Shipman on Dec. 24, 1946, in Ralls. The family moved to Dickens County 20 years ago from Abilene.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Mike Shipman of Carrolton; two daughters, Glenda Dillashaw of San Antonio and Lona Davenport of Abilene; a brother, Johnny Barnes of Lakewood, Calif.; a sister, Faye Butler of Lubbock; her grandmother; and seven grandchildren.
