Funeral services were held in the Bethel Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. for Charles Arvie Shipman, 73. Rev. Dick Horn officiated and was assisted by Rev. Chester Sassman, Perrin.
Mr. Shipman died at his home Nov. 13 following a lengthy illness. He was a carpenter.
He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1915. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. May Shipman, Spur; two sons, C.A. Shipman and Wallace Shipman, both of Spur; four daughters, Mrs. W.A. Nichols, Tahoka; Mrs. Don Caraway, Plainview; Veta Mae Ledbetter, and Mrs. Loretta Ayers, Lubbock; one brother, Ed Shipman, Crosbyton; two sisters, Mrs. Josey Ausmus, Crosbyton and Mrs. Ona Portwood, El Paso; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Louis Williams, Elmer D. Hagins, S.C. Reynolds, Cleo Murray, Loyd Womack, Wendell Newman.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery.
