Services for Kenneth Earl Reed, 83, of Idalou will be at 2 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Idalou Church of Christ with Weldon McKinney and Jeff Cary officiating. Burial is under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Kenneth passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born October 26, 1927 in Bridgeport, Tx to Leon and Ada Reed. He attended school in Spade, Tx, and served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. He married Anna Lynn Alston on October 26, 1951 in Lubbock. He was a brick mason from the time he was sixteen years old until the time of his retirement in 1990. Kenneth and his family lived in Idalou from 1963 to 1990. Kenneth and Anna moved to Lake Brownwood and lived there until they returned to Idalou in 2008. He was a member of the Idalou Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, 9 months, 17 days, Son, Leon Reed and daughter-in-law Tresa of Midland, Daughters Vicki Hill of Fredericksburg, VA; Sheila Harris and son-in-law Kyle of Lubbock, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of numerous friends.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Lubbock Children's Home.
