Obituary

Mrs. Cora Holland Reed, who along with her husband had been a prominent Crosbyton leader for many years, succumbed about 3 p.m. Thursday in Lubbock Medical Center. She was 73.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Carl Grissom of Andrews, a former pastor here, conducted.

King Funeral Home directed burial in Crosbyton Cemetery.

The former Cora Shaddle was born Nov. 30, 1900 in Poolville.

She and her late husband, James C. (Jim) Reed made Crosbyton their home throughout their marriage. The couple had been married 52 years when Mr. Reed succumbed Oct. 12, 1972.

The Reeds were always active in this community. He was chairman of the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital board, was a Federal Land Bank director, a school board trustee, and was honored in 1967 as Crosbyton´s Outstanding Citizen through the Years.

Mrs. Reed was a long time member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Miss Juanda Jim Reed of San Angelo, Mrs. Dick (Janelle) Snodgrass of Crosbyton and Mrs. Virgil Chron of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Tom Shaddle of Clarendon; one sister, Mrs. Florence Arms of Jacksboro; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
