Services for Ima Jewel McElroy, 96 of Dallas and formerly Crosbyton will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Harrington officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Jewel passed away Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Presbyterian Village in Dallas. She was born on December 2, 1909 in Wise County to the late Richard Anderson, and Ira (Nash) Paschall.
Jewel moved to Crosby County in 1915 from Wise County and was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church. She was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Crosbyton Order of the Eastern Star chapter #691 where she received her 50 year pin. She worked as Deputy County Clerk in Crosby County for many years, retiring at the age of 81 and had also served for many years as Secretary for the Crosby County Democratic party.
She is preceded in death by a son; Koye McElroy in 1989, and 2 brothers Weldon Lyle Paschall in 1949 and R. A. Paschall, Jr. in 2005.
Survivors include; a son and his wife; Richard W. and Janet McElroy of Lubbock, a daughter and her husband; LaVerne and Frank Simon of Plano, a sister Aliece Porterfield of Abilene, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
