Obituary

Crosbyton community lost another of her early settlers with the 4 a.m. Saturday death of John Appling McDuff in Crosbyton Hospital. Mr. McDuff, 90, had experienced a lengthy illness.

He had been a resident of the Crosbyton area for three-quarters of a century.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, officiating.

Interment followed in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Pallbearers were Billy Moyers, Dennis Robertson, Robert Doss, Dewey Whalen, Britt Reed and Dwain Doss.

The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native was born Dec. 23, 1892. He moved to the Crosbyton area in 1908.

A farmer, Mr. McDuff was a member of the Farmers Union.

He is survived by two sons, J.K. McDuff of Dodge City, Kan., and George McDuff of Man. La.; three daughters, Mary Etta Pilkington of Wichita, Kan., Shirley Craze of Lubbock and Charlotte Potts of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
