Services for Jeraldein C. "Jerry" King, 85, of Lorenzo were held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, 1996, in the Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. King died at 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 1996, at Lorenzo´s Sunshine Retirement home following an illness.
She was born April 17, 1911, in Souwilpa, AL, and married Howard Rivercomb in 1928. He preceded her in death.
She then married A.R. King Feb. 18, 1944, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1974.
She was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Amarillo School of Beauty Culture, graduating May 20, 1936. She was a beautician in Amarillo for several years.
She and Mr. King bought Marr Funeral Home in Crosbyton in May of 1946 and operated it as King Funeral Home until July 1, 1973, when they retired and moved to Horizon City, a golfing community near El Paso. She moved to Lubbock May 1, 1995, and then to Lorenzo in June of 1996.
She is preceded in death by a son, Ward Rivercomb, who died at age 5, and by five brothers and three sisters,
She was an avid golfer and sports fan and a very big supporter of the McAdoo basketball program during the 1950s and 60s. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Crosbyton Chapter, where she received her 50-year pin in 1994. She had served as Past Worthy Matron.
