Odie Karr, 49, was buried Friday in Crosbyton Cemetery following graveside services in which Rev. Steve R. Philpot, Dallas, officiated. The body was at King Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. where many of his boyhood friends called.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, a church that Mr. Karr helped to organize and build. He died Wednesday in a Lake Charles, La., hospital after an extended illness.

He was the son of Mrs. R. E. Karr, Crosbyton, and moved here with the family while a child. After first working for a local bakery for several years, he went to work for Mead´s Bakery in Lubbock in 1940 and was associated with them until a short time before his death.

He had been manager of Mead´s Bakeries in Amarillo, Oklahoma City and Lake Charles.

Survivors other than his mother, include his wife, Frances; four sons, Dr. Carter E. Karr and Robert Stanley, both of Amarillo, and David and Teddy Jim, both of the Lake Charles home; two daughters, Mrs. Jim Christian, Brownfield, and Miss Edith Karr of the home; a sister, Mrs. Bud Posey, Hereford; three brothers, Roy, Fort Worth, and Ted and Jimmy, Crosbyton; and three grandchildren.

Services for J. Frances Karr Slaybaugh, 84, of Amarillo were at 10 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2001, at the Trinity Baptist Church with the Dr. Allan Karr of Larkspur, CO, and Dr. David Evans of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. in the Crosbyton Cemetery.

She died Monday, January 29, 2001.

Mrs. Slaybaugh was born in Crosbyton. She was the fourth child born to Robert and Katie Carter. She graduated from Crosbyton High School. She married Mr. Odie Karr in Clovis, NM, in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1962. She married Dean Slaybaugh in Amarillo in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Slaybaugh was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was the organist for many years. She taught children and Senior ladies´ Sunday School classes.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Christian of Glendale, Ariz., and Edith Hixson of Lake Charles, La.; four sons, Dr. Carter E. Karr of Amarillo, Robert S. Karr of Amarillo, J. David Karr of Norman, OK, and Ted J. Karr of Kyle; one sister, Catherine Blackwood of Wills Point; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
