Rev. D.N. Hollyman, of Wake, returned Saturday Rising Star where he had been attending a family reunion. He had been away something like two weeks.
The Hollyman family, of which there are eight children still living have been seperated from the fathers home for about forty years and this is the first time thye had been together in a family reunion.
The occasion was the birthday of the father, Rev. Perry Hollyman, who was celebrating his 91st birthday on August 7th. Though this is a ripe old age, his activities and cheerful disposition would indicate that many more milestone will be passed.
The honoree of this occasion is a Missionary Baptist Minister and has been actively engaged in the ministry up until about ten years ago, for 68 years most of it in Texas, while the remarkable thing about it was that on this birthday occasion he preached to the family of more than a hundred including children, grand children, and great grand children, for 30 minutes in a vervent and effective address.
Our Mr. Hollyman, who is also a minister, preached the following Sunday to the same congreation.
These occasions are always frought with many happy returns as the years pass by in reflecting on the pleasant association of family ties. It gives impetus and cheerfulness to the declining years and make the pathway brighter.
It is the wish of the Review that this good family may have the pleasure of meeting again to celebrate the father's birthday. If not, then a happy reunion awaits them in the home beyond.
