Maria HernandezMaria Amada Hernandez, 78, of McAdoo, went to be with our Lord on Monday, November 11, 2013 in Lubbock. Rosary will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in Crosbyton. Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Amada was born on April 4, 1935 in Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico to Anastacio and Carmen Carrera. She married Jose Cruz Hernandez on September 18, 1953 in Tepehuanes. They were married for 60 wonderful years. On September 24, 1963, they moved to Kalgary, Texas from Mexico. In 1975 they moved to Broadway in the McAdoo area where they called home for twenty years. They then lived in Montrose, Colorado for 17 years before returning to Texas in September of 2012. Amada was a great wife, mother, friend, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic who loved her Lord. Her ministry of giving included years of active jail ministry. Amada loved cooking for everyone around her and was the ultimate homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, singing, as well as gardening and canning.

She is survived by her husband Jose Cruz Hernandez, and seven children: four daughters, Maria de Guadalupe (Lupe) Dehghanfard and husband Mohammad of Diablo, CA, Isabel Cisneros and husband David of Shalimar, FL, Cathy Hernandez of Lamesa, TX, and Laura Hernandez of Albert Lea, MN; three sons, Jesse Hernandez and wife Melissa of McAdoo, TX, Jorge Hernandez and wife Brenda of Montrose, CO, and Jose Hernandez and wife Jeannie of Bentonville, AR. She is also survived by one brother, Rafael Carrera of Chino, CA and three sisters, Guadalupe Mendoza of Durango, Mexico, Carmen Garcia of Las Vegas, NV, and Margarita Maturino of Durango, Mexico; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Amada will also be missed by the many friends and family she touched during her wonderful life.
