U.S.Flag Mass for Fred Hernandez, 37, of Lubbock was celebrated at 4 p.m. Monday, May 28, 1990 in San Jose Catholic Church in Crosbyton with the Rev. Tom Parampil, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 11 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 1990 after suffering injuries in a one vehicle accident, 1.8 miles northwest of Crosbyton on a county dirt road.

He was born in Matador and graduated from McAdoo High School. He moved from Crosbyton to Lubbock in 1975. He served with the U.S. Army. He married Janie Pena on Jan. 25, 1975, in Ralls. He worked 15 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and was a member of Communication Workers of American and the Pioneer of Southwestern Bell Telephone organization. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey and Joshua, both of Lubbock; a daughter, Janessa Hernandez of Lubbock; his parents, Gregorio R. and Mercedes Hernandez of Crosbyton; two brothers, Robert of Lubbock and Thomas of Midland; three sisters, Gloria De La Garza of Lubbock, and Christina Hernandez and Susie Hernandez, both of Crosbyton; and his maternal grandparents, Rafael and Eulalia De Leon of Floydada.
