Memorial services for Laverne Hefley of Plainview, a former Crosbyton resident, were at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton. The Rev. J.L. Bozeman of Hereford officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor of the local church.
Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
The 53 year old Mrs. Hefley was claimed by death at 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in South Park Hospital, Lubbock, following a sudden illness.
The former Laverne Reddell was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Chico and married Bob R. Hefley on Aug. 27, 1946 in Tahoka. A former Crosbyton and Odessa resident, Mrs. Hefley moved four years ago from Lubbock to Plainview.
She was a beautician.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; one son, Clifton Joe Hefley of Lubbock; one daughter, Mrs. Abbie Gail Watts of Denver, Colo.; her mother, Mrs. W.A. Reddell of Plainview; one brother, David Reddell of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Anita Billman of Tahoka; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services for Bobby Race Hefley, 70, of Center, Missouri, and formerly of Crosbyton, were held Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bozeman of Hereford officiating.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Hefley died Friday, July 17, 1998 at 12:45 p.m.
He was born March 28, 1928, in Crosbyton. He married Elfie LaVerne Raddell on August 27, 1946 in Plainview. She died in February 1981. On October 7, 1983, he married Ruth Maddox in Throckmorton.
He was a 1945 graduate of Crosbyton High School and attended Wayland College. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Hereford Elks Lodge, and the Emmett J. Shields American Legion Post 55 in Hannibal, MO. He served in the Marine Corps. during WWII. He served as a Boy Scout Leader. He was also a butcher and auto parts salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Joe Hefley of Lubbock, a daughter, Abby Gail Watts of Hereford; a sister, Twyla Jones of Canyon; four grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
