Obituary

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ralls First United Methodist Church for John Newman Heard, 76, of Hereford who died Thursday morning at Deaf Smith Hospital.

Officiating were the Rev. Vernon O´Kelly, pastor, the Rev. W.A. Appling of the First United Methodist Church Hereford and Dr. John A. English, director of King´s Manor Methodist Cottages in Hereford where Heard and his wife resided for the past two years.

Interment was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Heard operated a lumber yard here before moving to Ralls where he farmed and was a cotton gin manager. He resided in Ralls for 30 years before going to Hereford.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two brothers, Joe Heard of Ralls and Wallace Heard of Parkhill; and four sisters.

Services for Audrey Heard, 87, of Holland were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 1986 in First Methodist Church with the Rev. David Ray, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

She died at 8 p.m. Friday, December 26, 1986, in Kay Way Care Center in Holland after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Jacksonville and moved to Hereford in 1970 from Ralls. She moved to Holland in 1983. She married John N. Heard on June 4, 1922, in Crosbyton. He died in 1972. She was a teacher. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
