Funeral services for Vernie Melvin Head, 75, were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 1986, at the Crosbyton Church of Christ with Minister Jim York and the Rev. Roy Eason, Assembly of God, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Head passed away at 3:15 a.m. January 21, 1986, in the Crosbyton Hospital.

He was born in Snyder on February 18, 1910 and married Margaret Burrows in Lovington, New Mexico on May 7, 1974. He moved to Crosbyton in March of 1960. He was a police officer for 29 years, and was a member of the State Peace Officers Association and the Crosbyton Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Head of Crosbyton; one son, Joseph Lynn Head of San Angelo; two daughters, Geraldine Lingnau of Muleshoe and Anita Murray of Gillette, Wyoming; two brothers, K. S. Head of Lovington, NM and Audry Head of Snyder; two sisters, Leota Head of Snyder and Lois Avery of Bonham; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren.
