Services for Thelma Grizzle, 92, of Crosbyton, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 20, 1999, at Crosbyton First Baptist church with the Rev. Lester Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

She died Wednesday, Mar. 17, 1999, at Crosbyton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1906, in Hamilton County. She married Samuel Elam Grizzle on Sept. 28, 1933, in Kalgary. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1979.

She lived in Hamilton County about a year and half then moved to Dublin. She moved to Bunyan in 1908 and lived there 12 years and then moved into Stephenville, where she graduated May 19, 1925.

She graduated from John Tarleton Agricultural college May 30, 1928, with an Associate Degree in Science. She taught one year at Fort Hancock, and a semester and half in Clairette, Hamilton County.

She came to Crosby County in 1933 and moved to Crosbyton in 1946 from Kalgary. In the 1950´s was a substitute in the Crosbyton School System.

She was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women´s Missionary Union, sang in the choir, and taught a junior high Sunday school class. She also sang at the Crosbyton Care Center.

She was a member and president of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Hodges of Floydada, Elaine Burgess of Dallas and Sandra Smith of Crosbyton; nine grandchildren; Carolyn Chappell of Crosbyton, Max Hodges of Freeport, IL, Mark Hodges of Lake Worth, Mike Hodges of Cedar Park, Lauri Hinton of Princeton, SC., Robin Picard of Austin, Trisha Eckels of Amarillo, Jeff Dokken of Lebanon, TN., and Cindy Garrison of Aikin, SC, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pall Bearers were: Gene Chappell, Mark Hodges, Jeff Picard, Jeff Dokken, Dustin Chappell, Corey Hodges, Michael Hodges and John Hodges.

Honorary Pall Bearers were: Max Hodges, Mike Hodges, Kelton Hinton, Joe Garrison, Mike Eckles, Ryan Hodges, Ryan Eckles, Calab Hinton, Zackery Hinton, Sloan Dokken, Joseph Garrison, Jeremy Garrison, Justin Garrison and Seth Hodges.
