Funeral services for longtime Crosbyton resident Sam E. Grizzle, 89, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12 in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, officiating. Rev. Johnnie Williams of the First United Methodist Church assisted.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Grizzle died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday in Lubbock Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 12, 1989 in Pittsboro, Mississippi, and married the former Thelma Walker on September 28, 1933 in Kalgary, Texas. He was a retired farmer and rancher.
Mr. Grizzle was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church, the Crosbyton Senior Citizens Club and a veteran of W.W.I serving in the Army. He was a member of the Crosbyton Barracks #389.
He moved to Crosby County in 1911 from Bell County.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Dorothy) Hodges, Crosbyton; Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Burgess, Muleshoe; and Mrs. James (Sandra) Dokken, Alta Loma, Texas. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Fred Humble, Elbert Humbel, Billy Cornelius, Dwayne Cornelius, Tilman Reeves, Alvie Ratheal, W. B. Allen and Joe Hargrove.
