Graveside services for Kathy Givens, 61, of Crosbyton will be at 10 AM Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Crosbyton Cemetery with Bob Adams officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Adams Funeral Home ~ Crosbyton.
Kathy passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 in Crosbyton.
She was born September 14, 1951 in Crosbyton to the late Carroll and Bobbie (Moody) Himmel. On August 19, 1972 she married Mickey Givens, also of Crosbyton.
Kathy graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1970, received her bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University, and a Masters in Counseling from Wayland Baptist University. She was a lifelong educator in the Crosby County area working as an English teacher at Crosbyton High School, with Communities in Schools at Ralls ISD, and as a guidance counselor at Lorenzo ISD. Most recently, Kathy was heading up a new division at the Crosby County Juvenile Probation Department as the Youth Services Coordinator. She was a lifelong resident of Crosbyton and was dedicated to the education of the youth in the Crosby County area.
She is survived by her husband, Mickey Givens of Crosbyton, a brother, Kelly Himmel and wife Mary of Crosbyton, three children, Casey Givens and wife Jaime of Conyers GA, Kylyn and husband Rob Lee of Lubbock, Kris Givens and wife Shalee of Crosbyton; and two granddaughters, Emma Grace and Tess Rylynn Givens also of Crosbyton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Kathy's honor to your favorite charity.
