Final Rites For Mrs. Campbell, 72 Held Saturday
Funeral for Mrs. John W. Campbell, 72, was held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the First Methodist Church. Rev. Carlton Thomson, pastor, officiated, assisted by Thomas Compton, minister of the Crosbyton Church of Christ.
The longtime Crosbyton resident died at 3:07 p.m. Thursday in her home. Her death came at the end of a long illness.
Sallie Ann Martin was born, September 17, 1888, daughter of Rev. Francis and Mary Elizabeth Martin, in Wise county. She married John W. Campbell in 1905 and they moved to Crosby from Hill county in 1926.
Mrs. Campbell became a member of the Methodist Church when 9-years-old and was an active member until health prevented her from doing so. She was preceded in death by her husband and two of their eight children.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. B.C. Dement, Hereford, and Mrs. Cecil Blackwood, Dallas; four sons, Arthur, Crosbyton, J.W. Ralls, Roy, Seminole, Robert, Houston; a sister, Mrs. B. E. Tyson, Lubbock; a brother, J.P. Martin, Fort Worth; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: Delton, Arvil Lee, Billy Ray and Mike Campbell, Jimmy Blackwood and Benny Dement.
Honorary pallbearers were Don Moses, Richard Proctor, Lonnie Ellison, L.D. Witt, Jimmy Karr and Lon Atchison.
Burial was in Crosbyton cemetery. King Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
