Funeral services for John Morgan Bennett, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, in Pansy Baptist Church. He died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.Rev. W.F. Gaede, Crosbyton Methodist minister will officiate. Assisting him will be Rev. G.W. Pine, pastor and Rev. Melvin Ratheal, Lubbock.
Bennett had been ill for several months.
Born May 8, 1877, Bennett was a native of Mississippi. He had farmed and resided on the East Plains for the past 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; three daughters, Mrs. Willard Richardson, Crosbyton, Mrs. Leonard Autrey, Carmichael, Calif., Mrs. Donald Trosclair, New Orleans, La.
Three sons, George, B., Fort Worth, Homer W., Childress, J.M., Jr., Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. R.A. Golden, Fort Worth, Mrs. Jimmie Cheak, Whitney, and Mrs. H.A. Henderson, Garland; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery with King Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
