Buie Henry Dies Saturday, Jan 13
Curtis Buie Henry, 31, prominent and well known young farmer of the Cone Community, died Saturday, January 13 (1934), after an illness of several days duration.
He was born June 15, 1902, near Hillsboro, Texas, living there until January 1921, when he moved here with his parents. Buie united with the Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 14, and had lived an upright Christian life since. He was married to Miss Rachel Gott on November 11, 1922. To this union were born 2 children, Bobbie Nell, 9, and Billie Max.
Funeral services were held at the Cone Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon, Rev. R. L. Shannon, assisted by Rev. R. E. Harrison of Ralls, Rev Hill of Lockney, and Rev. G.C. Laney, an uncle, of Olney, officiating. Interment was made in the Cone Cemetery, the large number of people present testifying to the high esteem held for this good man.
Besides his widow and two children, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Henry of Cone; three brothers, Jack, Ellis and W.C. Jr of Cone, 6 sisters, Gladys, Zonelle, Hazel and Maxine of Cone, Mrs.(Ottie) Lewis Lee of Lubbock, Mrs. (Ona) Boyd Robinson of Breckenridge, all of who were here for the funeral, and a host of other relatives.
Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the funeral were: Rev. G. C. Laney and Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Bryan of Olney; Mr. R.N. Henry and sons, from near Happy; Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Turner, Messrs. T. B. Turner, J. E. Frank and Jack Dollar and Mrs. Claude Drake of Hillsboro; Messrs. Ellion and Ross Henry of Shamrock; Mr and Mrs. Lee Almond and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gracy of Brownfield, Mr. John English and family of Lubbock; Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Richie of Estacado; and Mrs. Hoover of Plainview.
Active pall bearers were: Messrs. Lee and Ross Henry, Otho Turner and Edward Frank, the deceased´s cousins, and John Kropp and Walter Gracey.
