Dee Flowers and his wife arrived in Crosby County in December of 1923. Burt, his brother, followed with his wife Faye Walkup of Collinsville, Grayson County. Burt and Dee began farming and broke out a sod pasture on the John and Lish English place. They tied a rag on the spoke of a wagon wheel and counted the times the wheel turned over to estimate the number of acres broken out. Dee Flowers married Miss Vera Lamb, June 6, 1925. Dee and Vera had two children, Billie and Jack.
Funeral services for Dee D. Flowers, 58, farmer who died at his home near Cone Tuesday night of a heart attack were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Cone school audiorium. Elder Kenneth Averitt of Tucumcari, N.M., assisted by Elder O. Miller of Floydada, officiated.
Burial, under the direction of Marr-Carter funeral home of Ralls, was in Cone cemetery.
Dewitt Dave Flowers was born April 16, 1896 in Oklahoma. He and his brothers moved to Crosby county in 1924. In June 1925 he was married to Miss Vera Lamb, a member of a pioneer family here. They have lived in this area continuously since that time.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; a son, Dee D. (Jack) Flowers, Ralls; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Titsworth, Lubbock; five brothers, J.W. of Oklahoma, A.M. of Wellston, Okla., V.R. of Collinsville, Burt of Crosbyton and L.L. of Gainesville; a sister, Mrs. Vol Haralson, Sherman; and a grandchild, Rhonda Cay Flowers of Ralls.
Pallbeares were Walter Williams, Lynn Miller, Edmond Crump, Cager Pope, John Noble, Marvin Tomme, Elmer Evans and Joe Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers included: Bob Stephens, Dan Flurry, Charlie Littlefield, Marvin McLaughlin, Jack Henry, J.D. Travis, Earl Martin, Bill Switzer, Carl Titsworth, Ernest V. Bartlett of Mulehsoe and Kenneth Watson of Anton.

Funeral rites for Vera Flowers, a Ralls area resident since 1918, was buried Jan. 20, in Cone Cemetery following 2:30 p.m. memorial services in the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. Roy Shave, minister of the church, officiated.
Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls directed arrangements.
Mrs. Flowers was 78. She died at 4:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in St. Mary Hospital in Lubbock following a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 19, 1903 in Mart, she was married to Dee D. Flowers Sr. in Cone. Mr. Flowers preceded his wife in death on June 22, 1954.
Mrs. Flowers, a housewife, moved to the Ralls area in 1918. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
The family suggests memorials to the Wadley Research Center in Dallas.
Survivors include one son, Dee D. "Jack" Flowers Jr. of Ralls; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Billye) Titsworth of Lubbock; a twin brother, Velma Lamb of Ralls; a granddaughter, Kay Brizzard of Denim Springs, La.; and a great-grandson, Chris Brizzard of Denim Flowers, on Nov. 30, 1930; and three granddaughters, Melissa, Vanessa and MeLinda Titsworth.
Serving as pallbearers were Dick Wagnon, Jack Robertson, George Wilson, James Crowley, C.H. Rowden, Donald Cave, J.B. Marshall, and Dan James.
