"Uncle John" English Was Resident of Co. For 42 Years
"Uncle John" English, died at his home near Cone Monday morning of paralysis. He with his twin brother "Uncle Lish" celebrated their 87th birthday last November 12.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Cone Methodist church with Rev. Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Burial was directed by Marr funeral home and interment made in Cone cemetery.
"Uncle John" and "Uncle Lish", as they were known by friends in Crosby county and throughout the South Plains section; came to Crosby county 42 years ago. They were pioneers of the county and have lived at the same home during all those years. Until recently they have been engaged in cattle raising.
"Uncle John" suffered a stroke of paralysis six days ago and had been confined to his home under treatment until his death.
Pallbearers were: H.C. McDermitt, Jack Robertson, Russell Noble, John Fowler, Velma Lamb and J.D. Travis.
Those sttending funeral services from Crosbyton included: Olen Littlefield, Emzy Pieratt, R.H. Nowlin, J. F. Garber, B. F. Hicks, and Geo. E. Mayes.
