Jimmie Zelner Mann was the first and oldest of ten children born to Joel and Jimmie Zelner Mann. She was born on September 7, 1905 in Rusk County. She received her education and lived most of her young years in Rusk County. She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Tatum.
She married Curtis Randy Watkins on April 12, 1925. He preceded her in death. She later married Trosper Lewis, who also preceded her in death.
Zelner moved to West Texas in 1945. She was a midwife. She delivered several of her own grandchildren as well as children of other relatives and friends. She was a faithful member of Friendship Holy Baptist Church #1. On Auguust 16, 194?, Zelner was Saved and Filled with God's Precious Holy Ghost. She always had encouraging words and made herself available to anyone needing "JESUS". She was the Mother of the Church, President of Missions, and a Sunday School Teacher. Her favorite and most encouraging words to all of us were, "REACH UP AND GET JESUS", and "COME ON IN JESUS".
One son preceded her in death.
She departed this life on Wednesday, November 18, 1992. She leaves to mourn four daughters, Wilma Jean Wilborn, and Ocie Watkins, both of Lubbock; Jessie Matthews of Dallas; Josie Daniels of Inkman, MI. One son, Edward Watkins of Lubbock. One sister, Azelene Hendrix of Lubbock. Three brothers, Elder Roy Mann, Bishop F. Mann, and Claudie Mann, all of Lubbock, 25 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 20 great, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held Monday, November 23, 1992 at 1 p.m. in Friendship Holy Baptist Church #1, Lubbock, Texas.
