Obituary

Funeral services for Ruby L. Baker, 86, of Lubbock, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 1996, in the Lorenzo First Baptist Church. Rev. Leonard Chatham, pastor of the Happy Union Baptist Church in Plainview, and Rev. Charles Hankson, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lorenzo, officiated.

Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Mrs. Baker died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1996, at South Park Hospital following an illness. She was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Riverside. She married Charlie Baker in Crosby County. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She had worked as a cook in several restaurants, and she was a domestic worker until retiring.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Baker; three sons, Monroe Watson of Lorenzo, Charlie Baker, Jr., of Arlington, and Robert Watson of Amarillo; four daughters, Rosie Walls of Lorenzo, Anna Baker of Lubbock, Nell Watson of Levelland, and Frankie Watson of Lorenzo; two sisters, Carrie Jackson of Lorenzo and Sally Smith of Dallas; two brothers, Ed Lawson of Midland and Lewis Lawson of Lorenzo; 28 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons were pallbearers.

LORENZO (Special) — Services for Charlie Baker, 88, of Lorenzo will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Chatman Leon and the Rev. C. Hankson officiating.

Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Baker died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996, at his home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1908, in Navasota. He married Ruby L. Baker in 1942 in Crosbyton. She died Jan. 17, 1996.

Survivors include three sons, Charlie Baker Jr. of Arlington, Robert Watson of Corpus Christi and Monroe Watson of Lorenzo; four daughters, Anna Marie Baker of Lubbock, Rosie Lee Wall and Frankie Lawson, both of Lorenzo, and Nelle Watson of Levelland; 30 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
