Albert Anderson was born in Gayhill, TX on March 11, 1903. Laura Shepard was born September 7, 1907 in Dime Box, TX. They were united in marriage December 23, 1923 in Whitehall, TX.
To this union were born fifteen children: Albert, Jr. Dec. 7, 1924 - deceased 1953; Doris Lee, Claude, Ervin, Ira, Edward, Lucille( May 20, 1936 - deceased May 16, 2001), Willie, Shirley Ray, Robert, Ruby, Anthony, Alberta (April 5, 1948, died in infancy), Daisy Mae and Charles Ray.
Albert started out as a blacksmith and mechanic while living around Gayhill and Whitehall, TX. He hauled hands from Moody, near Temple, TX, to Lorenzo to hoe and pull cotton in the 1930´s.
He moved to Lorenzo to stay in 1943. In Lorenzo he is known as "Buck" Anderson. The family home burned in 1953 resulting in the death of son, Albert, Jr. Albert found many ways to provide for his family. Local people brought corn to him to be removed from the cob and ground into cornmeal. He also had the equipment to make syrup from cane raised by the local farmers.
The family home still stands in Lorenzo and the syrup making equipment is still there. People bought the syrup in gallon buckets. Biscuits, butter and cane syrup were a treat. He repaired windmills and did stucco work. Stucco was a mixture of sand and cement which was applied on "chicken wire" on the outside walls of homes. Several applications were applied to seal over cracks and flaws resulting in a warm building, he then added a finishing process that could be painted. Through the years his skill as a blacksmith continued to be in demand.

Services for Laura Anderson, 95, of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Hankson officiating and the Rev. John Williams assisting.
Burial was in West Side Cemetery in Lorenzo under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
She died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Crosbyton Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1907, in Giddings.
She married Albert "Buck" Anderson on Dec. 23, 1923, in Moody, TX.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Lorenzo. She moved to Lorenzo in 1941 from Moody, TX. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Anderson in 1951; and three daughters, Doris Lauterdale in 1966, Alberta Anderson in 1949 and Lucille Anderson in 2001. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Albert "Buck" Anderson of Lorenzo; nine sons, Claude L. Anderson of Odessa, Ervin Anderson of Lubbock, Ira Anderson of Lorenzo, Edward Anderson of Amarillo, Willie Anderson of Lorenzo, S.R. Anderson of Amarillo, Robert D. Anderson of Lorenzo, A.Y. Anderson of Lubbock and Charles Anderson of Lubbock; two daughters, Ruby Byers and Daisy Anderson, both of Amarillo; 40 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Albert "Buck" Anderson, 101, of Lorenzo will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2005 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lorenzo with Rev. John Williams and Rev. Charles Hankson officiating. Burial will follow in the West Side Cemetery in Lorenzo under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Mr. Anderson passed away Sunday, February 20, 2005 in the Crosbyton Hospital. He was born March 1, 1903 in Moody, Texas to Ned and Mariah (Morton) Anderson. He grew up in Grayhill, Texas. On December 23, 1923 he married Laura Sheppard in Moody, Texas. They moved to Lorenzo in 1941. She preceded him in death Sept. 15, 2002 following 78 years together.
Albert was a carpenter and blacksmith and built and reconstructed his home in Lorenzo. He purchased an entire city block and sold lots to others who needed a home place. In the early years his house was a church on Sundays and a school during the week until a church and school were built. Albert was also a butcher and a bus driver. Albert was a great provider for his family. He raised hogs, cows and chickens and also owned a syrup mill in Lorenzo where he made sugar cane syrup. Albert was very instrumental in helping other blacks to succeed as he helped implement integration of the Lorenzo public schools. He built the Church of God in Christ church where he attended and was a deacon and trustee of the church.
He is preceded in death by a son, Albert Anderson who died in 1951 and by 3 daughters, Alberta Anderson in 1949, Doris Lauterdale in 1966 and Lucille Lawson in 2001.
Survivors include 9 sons, Claude of Odessa, Ervin, A. Y., and Charles all of Lubbock, Ira, Willie and Robert D., all of Lorenzo and Edward and S. R., both of Amarillo; 2 daughters Ruby Byers and Daisy Anderson both of Amarillo and by 40 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Marcus Williams, Lewis Byers, Jeffrey Anderson, Reginald Byers, Randall Byers, Fredrick Byers, Avery Anderson and Joe Roberts.
