Lou Daugherty 366 unveiled me 6/3/1908                     105 years later I am missing some parts and need a good cleaning

This monument was created by Frank Teich for the Lou Daugherty Chapter 366 and unveiled June 3, 1908.  The white marble sculpture stands on a granite base and has the addition of Texas red granite at the base and a gray granite pedestal.

District IV, United Daughters of the Confederacy®, Texas Division has this large project ahead of them.  These 10 chapters as well as the Order of Confederate Rose, Red River Rose Chapter and the Lee-Bourland Sons of Confederate Veterans have joined and collected a few funds but we are a long way from the $24,000 needed for this project. The project is the historic restoration and conservation of this wonderful piece of history in Leonard Park Gainesville, TX.  The lost elements, rifle and hand will be sculpted from white marble.  Restoration and conservation is to be done by R Alden Marshall & Associates, LLC, LaGrange, Texas.  After funds are raised, on site work would begin.  Estimated work time would be 5 weeks, dependent on weather. Replacement of the missing hand and rifle would be 4 weeks once the marble is procured.

If you would like to send donations for this project aside from our fundraisers you may do so by sending your check made to UDC District IV; noting on the check it is for Leonard Park restoration.  Mail to Stacey Martin, District IV Treasurer; 1503 Irvin Rd; Irving; TX 75060-5734.
