Black Cemetery

 

This cemetery is located near the old settlement of Coesfield in the northeast part of Cooke County. It is 4.6 miles north of the Walnut Bend School, which is 10 miles north of highway 82. The cemetery is about 300 yards up in a pasture on the west side of road 127, just mile before it reaches the Red River at Dripping Springs. It cannot be seen from the road. This cemetery is the resting place of Col. William C. Young, who was killed during the Great Hanging at Gainesville during the Civil War.
