MRS. DORA E. SPARKS

Pioneer Eden Woman Dies Last Thursday
   
The summons to "come up higher" came to Mrs. Dora e. Sparks, 75 last Thursday night, February 26, after several months of confinement to the sickbed. Mrs. Sparks was making her home with her daughter, Mrs. T. E. Schafer, where her death occurred.
    She ws born Dora Coats, March 27, 1855, in Nacodoches County, Texas, her exact age being 75 years and 11 months. She was married to W. M. Sparks on September 30, 1873. To them were born seven children 5 boys and two girls. One boy died in infancy, another, Jim, died here in 1924. Mrs. Sparks united with the Baptist church 45 years ago, the Old North church at Nacadoches, the oldest Baptist church in the state. She was a devoted and exemplary Christian, rearing her family in the way of uprightness, and was a blessing to the community here where they moved to many years ago.
    The funeral was conducted Friday afternoon at the Baptist church, the Rev. Z. E. Parker, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Eden cemetery, beside her husband and her son. The survivors are Mrs. T. E. Schafer, tom, Oscar and Troy Sparks, all of Eden, and Mrs. H. E. Anderson of Brady.
