MANLEY WOODLIFF MORRIS
Pioneer Settler Dies Here Thursday
Paint Rock lost another of its old settlers early this
afternoon, Thursday, when death claimed Wood Morris. He became ill in the early
part of the night last night, at about 8:00 o'clock, and grew worse until the
suffering was relieved at about 1:25.
Manley Woodliff Morris was born in Guadalupe County in
1875, coming to this county ten years later, and living the remainder of his
life here. he was connected with ranching interest here for several years, but
for the past few years, has spent a quite reserved life on account of his
health. At the time of his death, and for several years past he has made his
home with his brother, R. W. Morris.
He is survived by two brothers, R. W. Morris of this place
and Charley Morris of Matador; two sisters, Mrs. M. L. Tom of San Antonio and
Mrs. Judia Barber of Ballinger.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at
the Baptist Church with the Rev. J. E. Nicholson of New Mexico officiating.
Interment to be made in the local cemetery.
The deceased has many friends here and elsewhere in the
county who are mourning his death as he is well known in all parts of this
section. The Herald joins with the large hose of friends who extend their
sympathy to the bereaved ones.
