C. A. LOVELESS
Solemn and touching were the rites said last
Wednesday at the graveside of C. A. Loveless, who died suddenly of a heart
attack, August 23.
C. A. Loveless was born at Bangs, Brown County Texas, May
15 1888. At the age of 14, he moved with his parents to Concho County, later
returning to Brownwood where he was a student at Howard Payne College for two
years. he united with the Church of Christ at an early age, living a devout
Christian life until his death. He was married in November 1908 to Miss Nora
Baker. Them this union two children were born. Faye and Billie. Other surviving
relatives are: his mother, Mrs. A. C. Loveless; Mrs. G. S. Johnson, Melvin; Mrs.
P. R. McGlasson, San Angelo; Mrs. Earl Wilbanks, Rankin; Miss Emma Loveless;
Will and Robert Loveless.
Funeral services were conducted at the family residence by
Rev. Cole, who in feeling and beautiful language, said tribute to the deceased,
affording calm and comfort to the dear ones left to mourn the separation. Two
favorite songs, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Nearer My
God to Thee" sung by the choir emphasized the solemnity of the hour.
Another song, "Let Me Linger Near My Savior," was sung by Lonnie
Sockwell and Mrs. Ova Tolliver.
Pall Bearers were: Russle, Callan, Raymond Andrews, Jim
Daniels, Otto Armor, Earl Hendricks and Oran Neve.
Mr. Loveless was an enterprising stock farmer of the South
Brady Community. He was at all times heart and soul in accord with every
movement for the up build of the community. Of him it can be truthfully said,
"He was a real man." He was a true christian gentleman, modest and
unassuming in all things, simple in his mode of life, with a kindly sympathetic
work for every one. His devotion to his fellow man made him a model citizen.
The floral offering at the grave was most beautiful and
profuse, indicating in a small measure, the high esteem in which he was held by
his friends.
