NEW MINE CEMETERY - CAMP COUNTY Apr. 25, 1920 - Apr. 1, 2009 Doris Lorene Blasingame, known as "Nanny" to all who loved her, died on April 1, 2009, at the age of 88 at Highland Pines Nursing Home in Longview. She was born on April 25, 1920, to Cora and Walker Tatum in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Bogota, Texas, graduating from high school in 1937. She left Bogota to attend nursing school in Marshall, Texas. After completing her nursing training, she proudly worked in the medical field as an LVN for many years. She retired and moved to Longview in 1995. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church of Longview. She rededicated her life to Christ, and was active in the Women's Quilting Club, worked in the nursery, and was involved in many other church activities. Survivors include two daughters, Olivia Waggoner of Longview, and Edith Ann Johnson and Russell D. Ray of Pittsburg. Also left to cherish her memory are five grandchildren, Tonia and Robert Woods of Longview, Eddie and Donna Barnes of Longview, Lonnie Voss, Jr. of Pittsburg, Virginia Ann and Larry Green of Marietta, Texas, James Fields of Connecticut, and six great-grandchildren, as well as a very special friend and caregiver Loretta Faggans of Longview. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Pack Blasingame of Pittsburg; grandson, Ronnie Pack Voss of Pittsburg; daughter, Cathy Stockwell of Connecticut; great-granddaughter, Jordan Elaine Barnes of Longview; and a special friend in her later years Mr. O. T. Barfield of Longview. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday April 4, 2009, at the New Mine Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas, with Dr. James Pierce of New Life Baptist Church officiating with musical selections by Pastors Andy and Becky Allison of Life Church of Longview. Visitation will be today, April 3, 2009, from 6-8 p.m., at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Barnes, Louden Barnes, Hunter Barnes, Robert Woods, Robbie Woods, Russell Ray, Lonnie Voss, Jr., Larry Green, Cody Green, Noah Green, and Herb Warren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Ken Marshall, the nursing staff of Good Shepherd Hospital, and the entire staff of Highland Pines Nursing Home for their loving care. Nanny will be remembered as a caring person who loved children, enjoyed quilting, fishing, gardening and spending time with her family. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
