Mateline Barr Lewis

Mateline Barr Lewis, 91, Port Lavaca, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002.

She was born Dec. 17, 1910 at Indianola, the daughter of William Duncan Barr and Emma Mendez Barr. She was married to the late Earl Lewis. A homemaker, she was a member of the Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Survivors include two children, Dean White of Port Lavaca and Beth Yates of Victoria; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at Alamo Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony �Casey� DuBose officiating. Burial followed in the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glenn Yates, Paul Yates, Michael Yates, Gene Davis, Matthews Pressley and David White.

Funeral arrangements were under the directions of Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 361-552-2988.

Oswald Henry Kirchner

Oswald Henry Kirchner, 82, of Seadrift, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002.

He was born Nov. 14, 1919 in Yorktown, the son of the late Gus Kirchner and Clara Hoffman Kirchner. A welder, he was self employed.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Virginia Dittfurth Kirchner; three daughters, Peggy Hadley of Seadrift, Nancy Taylor of Carlsbad and Debbie Ross of Victoria; three sons, Kenneth Kirchner of Seadrift, Gary Kirchner of Port Lavaca and Oswald Kirchner Jr. of San Antonio; a sister, Freda Leonhardt or Nordheim; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with Mr. Dennis �Poodle� Wittnebert officiating. Burial followed in the Seadrift Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donnie Kirchner, Mark Kirchner, Gary Wayne Kirchner, Morgan Ross, Roy Taylor and Michael Hadley.

Christine Y. Rodriguez

Christine Y. Rodriguez, 61, of Port Lavaca, died on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002.

A housewife, she was born Dec. 27, 1940 in Port Lavaca, the daughter of the late Julio Ybarra and Barbara Silva Ybarra. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Isabella Ybarra, Nancy Trevino and Josephine Morales; and six brothers, Senovio Ybarra, Julio Ybarra, Roberto Ybarra, Roosevelt Ybarra, Roger Ybarra and Ray Ybarra.

She is survived by her husband, Eddie Rodriguez Sr. of Port Lavaca; a daughter, Marina Crabtree of Lake Jackson; three sons, Eddie Rodriguez Jr. of Port Lavaca, Gino Rodriguez of Sugarland and Guy Rodriguez of San Antonio; five sisters, Hortencia Garcia of Port Lavaca, Esperanza �Hope� Rodriguez of Houston, Connie Rodriguez of Port Lavaca, Emparo �Pye� Luna of Houston and Leonora Aleman of Victoria; a brother, Henry Ybarra Sr. of Port Lavaca; and seven grandchildren, Marquita Munoz, Blayne Rodriquez, Natasha Munoz, Gino Rodriguez Jr., Nico Rodriguez, Blain Rodriguez and Gavin Rodriguez.

A funeral Mass was recited at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Guerra officiating. Burial followed in the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gino Rodriguez, Eddie Rodriguez Jr., Guy Rodriguez, Gino Rodriguez II, Rick Crabtree and Jimmy Aleman. Honorary pallbearers were Roosevelt Morales, Eugene Morales, Joe Morales, Ruben Rodriguez, Emilio Luna III, Mario Luna, Rene Luna, Julio Ybarra, Henry Ybarra, Mario Ybarra and Harvey Ybarra.
