Luis Orta Sr.
Luis Orta Sr, 70, of Corpus Christi, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
He was born Sept. 9, 1932 in Calhoun County, the son of the late Juan Orta and Lucia Gonzales Orta. He was a retired employee of Castro Fence Co. in Corpus Christi and a member of the Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Epifania �Fannie� G. Orta and Andrea Orta Bazan and a brother, Santiago G. Orta.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Orta Sims of Corpus Christi, Mary D. Orta Valadez of Port Lavaca and Angie Orta of Nixon; a son, Luis Orta Jr. of Missouri City; two sisters, Mary Orta Calzada and Rita Orta Ybarra, both of Port Lavaca; five brothers, Pedro C. Orta, Juan �Johnny� G. Orta and Savino G. Orta, all of Port Lavaca, Gregory G. Orta of Tuscon, Ariz. and Edward G. Orta Sr. of Victoria; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was recited at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Artero Memorial Chapels of Port Lavaca, 552-2300.

Viola Trevino Castaneda
Viola Trevino Castaneda, 67, of Corpus Christi, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2003.

She was born Nov. 21, 1935 in Hebbronville, the daughter of the late Victoriano Trevino and Cora Mesa Trevino. She was married to the late Jesus Y. Castaneda and a member of the Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Victoriano Salazar Sr.; a sister, Sally Ferguson; and two brothers, Jacinto Trevino and Horacio Trevino.

She is survived by three daughters, Diana Heysquierdo, of Port Lavaca, Letisia Castaneda of Corpus Christi and Elsa Alvarez of Victoria; three sons, Joe Daniel Salazar and Noe Salazar, both of Corpus Christi and Jesse Castaneda Jr. of Port Lavaca; a sister, Pearla Mendoza of Port Lavaca; a brother, Gilbert Trevino of Port Lavaca; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in Artero Memorial Chapels. A funeral Mass will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bobby Trevino, Jerry Trevino, Sammy Lozano, Peter Lozano, Chuck �Boyce� Garcia and Jesse Castaneda Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Heysquierdo, John Dale Salazar, Joe Daniel Salazar Jr., David V. Salazar Jr. and Robert Salazar.
