Mrs. Sarah P. Schooley was born in Johnson County, Mo., September 27, 1840.  She was the youngest child in a family of thirteen children, her maiden name being Bowmer.  At an early age, she came with her father’s family to Texas, where she resided until her death a few days ago, with the exception of about one year’s residence in the Indian Territory.

She was united in marriage, February 12th, 1857, to W. S. Schooley, who was born September 12th 1834.  His death preceded that of his devoted wife about one year.  Both were consecrated members of the Methodist church.

From this union there are eight living children, as follows:

Mrs. Mary Debo, who lives on Spring Creek;
Frank Schooley of Mason county;
Lewis, Sam, Tom and Mrs. Ed Shuford, all of Burnet county;
and Dick and Brown of Indian Territory.

Three sisters and one brother also survive her:
Mr. Ray Bowmer of Williamson county,
Mrs. Linnie Windsor of Killeen;
Aunt “Gal” Davis of Williamson; and
Mrs. L. C. Kincheloe of Burnet

When the summons came, Aunt Sarah was ready.  To those left behind, we would say, weep not, but emulate her example, and when your life on earth is ended, you will be prepared to join her in a brighter and better world.
