HOOVER, Rev. Isaac - 11 Nov 1904

Burnet Bulletin, 24 Nov 1904

The subject of this sketch peacefully breathed his last at 5:15 o'clock Friday morning, Nov. 11th 1904, at his old home in Hoover's Valley, surrounded by his faithful wife and their three living children, Mrs. J. J. Mabry, Mrs. W. B. Conoway and R. W. Hoover, and a host of loving friends and relatives.

He was born in Bedford Co. Tenn. Feb. 8, 1824. Aged 80 years, 9 months and 3 days. Married Annie Hoover June 4th, 1841; hence these good people had lived happily together for 63 years and 5 months.

Moved to Texas in 1854 and settled in Burnet Co. where he continuously lived ever since. He was a regular ordained Minister of the Gospel in the Methodist Protestant Church and for many years traveled and preached all over this western country, exposed many times to hostile Indians. The infirmities of old age only superannuated this old pioneer itinerant, and ever afterwards was found ready to fill a vacant appointment and assist in the protracted meetings. The loss of this good man will be seriously felt, not only around the family circle, but his safe counsel, earnest admonition and zealous exhortations will be sadly missed by all. He died like he lived, a Christian--his last word was "Glory!"

This funeral service of the church was conducted at the home by the pastor Rev. H. Watkins, and concluded at the grave by Masonic honors, Hon. Norton Moses, Past Grand Master and High Priest of the state, officiating.
