Thomas Jefferson Dunaway was born June 29, 1854, in Pike County, MS (about 7 miles from McComb City) and was a son of George and Permelia Gates Dunaway. He moved to Texas before 1880 probably following the family of his childhood sweetheart Cynthia Ann Dunaway, daughter of Elvin Dunaway and his first wife Minerva Morgan.

Thomas Jefferson Dunaway married Cynthia Ann Dunaway on December 22, 1880 in Polk Co,TX. Their oldest child, John Elvin (my grandfather) was born in 1881 in Polk County, TX. The rest of their children were born in Burnet County (probably in the Fairland Community).

Thomas Jefferson and Cynthia Ann both died in 1924 and were buried in the Fairland Cemetery. As far as I know Thomas Jefferson and Cynthia Ann were not related.

The children of Thomas Jefferson and Cynthia Ann Dunaway were:

John Elvin (married Lorah Dell Joy; my grandparents);
Lottie (married William Berry Haywood);
Bettie (married Claude Crow);
Maybell (married Clyde Holland);
Victoria "Vickie" (married twice: #1 James William "Bill" Baugh and 2nd Robert Homer Carter);
Conley J. (married twice: #1 Lenora LaForge divorced and 2nd Anna Mae Long);
Minerva (died about age 3);
and twins:

Webster "Webbie" and

Dockie Harley (married Bertha Tom Jay).
