Charles Chittenden Cummings was born December 14, 1829, in Massachusetts, died September 3, 1899, in Burnet County and was buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery. He married Mary Ann Hoover, daughter of Isaac and Anna Hoover, February 19, 1857, in Burnet County. Mary Ann Hoover was born September 5, 1842 in Tennessee and died November 8, 1893; she is buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery.

Charles C. Cummings served in the Civil War from September 25, 1862 until the close of the war in the cavalry, Company D, Third Regiment, Arizona Brigade, under the command of Captain R. W. McKee.

Charles C. and Mary Ann Hoover Cummings lived in Hoover's Valley where Charles was a farmer. Later he lived in Burnet and served on The Board of Education. The children of Charles C. and Mary Anne Hoover Cummings were:

(1) Anna Elizabeth, born October 19, 1858, died February 10, 1859, and buried in Hoover's Valley Cemetery.

(2) Isaac, born August 13, 1860, and death date unknown. He was first married to Annie E. Davis, who was born November 19, 1860, died August 10, 1905, and buried in Hoover's Valley Cemetery. She was the daughter of James and Lucinda J. Millburn Davis. After her death, Isaac was married to Adeline Gray. Isaac operated a cotton gin and mill located near the Colorado River, not far from Kingsland. [Photo of Isaac and sisters, Fannie and Alice]

(3) Fannie, born January 27, 1862. Married Joseph Culbertson in 1879; died in 1948.

(4) Clarissa Victoria, born June 30, 1866, died June 20, 1869, and buried at Hoover's Valley.

(5) Alice Hasseltine, born April 11, 1868. She married John Freeman Dodson in 1885.

(6) Malinda Martha, born September 28, 1870, and died in 1924. She was married to George Moses Knebel.

(7) Mary Ella, born August 19, 1872, died March 29, 1935, and buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery. She was a longtime school teacher in the rural schools of Burnet County, and was never married. See Obituary here.

(8) William Roselle, born May 10, 1874, died October 6, 1911, and buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery. He was married to Charity-, who was born) January 13, 1875, died September 27, 1948, and was also buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery.  See Obituary here.

(9) Avis Myrtle, born March 13, 1881, died January 29, 1952, and buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery. She was first married to David O. Bailey, and later to L. Joe Duckett. Avis was also a longtime school teacher in the rural schools of Burnet County prior to her marriage.

(10) Charles Mabry, born December 6, 1882, died in 1941, and buried in the Old Burnet Cemetery. He was married to Nora Adel Guinn, who was born May 2, 1881, died January 28, 1966, and buried in the same cemetery.
