W.H. (Red) Berry

Stephenville - W.H. (Red) Berry, 87, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 in the Stephenville Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial will be in West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Berry was born July 17, 1916, in Burnet County to William Berry and Susie Watkins Berry. He was married to Josephine Colbert June 11, 1947, in Electra. He is a graduate of Lampasas High School and Texas Department of Public Safety Patrol Academy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a DPS officer in Hearne, Seymore and Stephenville. He owned and operated ranches in Burnet, Hamilton and Erath counties. He was a real estate broker in Stephenville. He helped in the organization of the Erath County Sheriff's Posse, Morgan Mill Play Days for youth and John Tarleton College four-year university status.

Survivors include wife, Jo Berry; daughter Janice and husband Willie Perry of Lampasas; granddaughters, Jana Lee Perry of Stephenville and Joni Gail Perry of Lampasas; brother-in-law, Hugh Colbert of Dallas; sister-in-law Glenda Nell Patton of Dallas; and close friend, Gene Forbes of Stephenville.

Memorials may be made to Foster's Home or the charity of choice.
