Haymond, Texas

Haymond was named for Crede Haymond, who was a lawyer for the Southern Pacific Railroad.  Though Haymond is abandoned now, it was once a busy trading post with the population of three hundred or more.  Nelse Pierson owned a mercantile business, W.B. Brown was the postmaster and the Kincaids, the Combs and other ranchers traded there.

One of the Kincaid boys once loaded out a trainload of cattle and went with them to Mexico City.   When his brother didn't hear from him when he thought he should, he sent the absent cattleman a telegram, asking if the cattle had sold and if he were safe.  The reply was informative. "Arrived safe, Cattle sold well.  Money well spent.  Wire funds for a ticket home."
