The wedding of Miss Sarah PALMER, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. R.H. PALMER, to Robert A. SANDERS of Jacksonville, Florida, son of Mr. & Mrs. J.A. SANDERS of Shelbyville, was solemnized on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 at the home of the bride's parents on Coles Ferry Pike. Rev. J. Leonard JACKSON, pastor of the Church of Christ at Franklin, officiated.

Mr. & Mrs. Carl FRYE are the proud parents of a baby daughter born Sunday at Martha Gaston Hospital. She has been named Carol Marie.

Ben Gray JENNINGS, 29, of Statesville, died suddenly Monday afternoon while loading a truck with wood at the Williams & Welch Lumber Company. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 at the Statesville Methodist Church by Rev. Jim MOREHEAD, pastor. Surviving are his father, C.W. JENNINGS of Statesville; two sisters: Miss Ara JENNINGS of Statesville and Mrs. C.D. BRYAN of Dutchridge, Ohio; two brothers: W.W. JENNINGS of Toledo, Ohio and Maxie JENNINGS of Chicago, Illinois; and four nephews. Burial was at the Jennings Cemetery at Statesville. Seagraves & Gill were in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nettie Blanc WRIGHT, 37, wife of Rev. C.E. WRIGHT, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Watertown, died Friday night at a Memphis hospital after an illness of several weeks. The body was carried to Watertown where it remained until Sunday morning when it was removed to Knoxville for funeral services and burial. Services were conducted at Mann's Funeral Home in Knoxville at 2:00 Monday afternoon by Dr. Fred BROWN at that city. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery there. Surviving in addition to her husband is one son, Dan WRIGHT; and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. H.D. BLANC of Knoxville.

Mrs. Mary Agness Walsh MARTIN, 70 died suddenly Friday night at her home on W. Spring Street. She was the wife of J.J. MARTIN, operator of the Cedar City Machine Shop on N. Cumberland St. Mrs. MARTIN was a member of the Catholic Church. Funeral services were held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville Monday morning at 9:00 by Rev. Francis RILEY. Surviving are her husband; four sons: John, Paul, Dean and Thomas MARTIN, all of Lebanon; one brother, Michael WALSH of Nashville; four sisters: Miss Sarah WALSH and Mrs. W.F. CLUMAN of Nashville, and Mrs. Annie RILEY and Mrs. Josephine GLYSIBY, both of Detroit, Michigan. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nashville. Seagraves and Gill were in charge.

Watertown Personals-
Mr. & Mrs. William PATTON are the proud parents of a baby girl born Thursday at McFarland Hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. H.C. COLLIE, JR. are the proud parents of a baby girl born in Lebanon Hospital.

George Stevingston RODGERS, 2 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. George W. RODGERS of near Lebanon, died at a local hospital Saturday night at 8:00. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 5:00 at the home of Mr. & Mrs. R.B. HOLLOWAY on Murfreesboro Pike by Rev. Hoyt HUDDLESTON, assisted by Rev. Owen HARDAWAY of Nashville. Mr. & Mrs. RODGERS made their home on the HOLLOWAY farm for 8 years, only recently moving away. Surviving in addition to his parents are his grandparents: Mrs. Ola HARRISON of Murfreesboro Pike and Mr. & Mrs. Fanton RODGERS of near Lebanon; six uncles: Thomas, Glen, Fents and Glendon RODGERS and John Henry HARRISON, of near here, and Mack RODGERS of Virginia; and three aunts: Miss Kathleen RODGERS, Miss Mary Ann and Ada Mai HARRISON, all of near Lebanon. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Ligon and Son in charge of arrangements.

Fellowship-
Orbia LANNOM was buried in Vesta Monday. Survivors are his parents and one brother.

Mrs. Cora Davis LANE, 76, died Saturday morning at 4:30 at her home near Lebanon after an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted at the Rutland Church of Christ Sunday afternoon at 2:00 by Elder drake MACON of the Greenhill community. Surviving are two sons: T.G. and J.M. LANE of Gladeville; three sisters: Mrs. A.C. WRIGHT and Mrs. Mollie HOOKER, both of Mt. Juliet, and Mrs. Ruth BONDS of Knoxville; one brother, Lawrence DAVIS of Mt. Juliet; and two grandchildren: Nancy and Robert LANE of Gladeville. Burial was in Rutland Cemetery with Ligon and Son in charge.

Mrs. Luscenia Frances WOODALL, 87, died Saturday at her home on N. Maple St. after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 by Rev. Dean STROUD, pastor of the local Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Francis DAVIS of Lebanon; one son, I.V. WOODALL of Nashville; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery at Gladeville with Ligon and Son in charge of arrangements.

One of the most patriotic sacrifices anyone can make for his country is being made by a 90 year old woman right here in Lebanon. This woman is Mrs. Bell Nance HALL, mother of B.O. HALL, recently retired rural route carrier. Mrs. HALL will celebrate her 90th birthday in November. She has lived through the Civil War, First World War and now, although she is nearly blind and is a semi-invalid, is doing Red Cross sewing at her home on N. Cumberland St. as her contribution to the present world crisis. Mrs. HALL, who was 10 when the Civil War broke out, began then by milking cows while the men were away. She had two sons in the First World War.

Mrs. W.B. GREEN, of near Lascassas, died at her home Wednesday night of last week after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Bradley Creek Church. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Miss Willie May GREEN; one son, James GREEN of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters: Mrs. Vertie SLOAN of Lascassas and Mrs. Mary THOMPSON of Watertown; one brother, Willie PATTERSON of Raleigh, N.C. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery.

Henry MORRIS of Greenville, Texas, who moved away from Lebanon 41 years ago, was a visitor here this week. Mr. MORRIS is a brother of four local residents: Mrs. Willie Burr JOHNSON, Mrs. Vick DAVIS, Will MORRIS, and Mrs. Marshall BROWN.

Miss Sarah Katherine GIBSON, 83, died at the home of her nephew, Aubrey GIBSON, near Gladeville Tuesday afternoon. A prayer service was conducted by Rev. J.W. POWELL at the Caraway Cemetery at Gladeville on Wednesday. Survivors are three nieces and nephews. Ligon & Son had charge of arrangements.

Mr. & Mrs. James GREEN of Detroit, Michigan were called here for the funeral of his mother, Mrs. Grace GREEN of Lascassas

Saulsbury-
A wedding of interest was that of Miss Sudie TUGGLE and Frank VANTREASE which was solemnized last week. They will make their home on East Main Street in Lebanon.

Mrs. Nannie DOSIER, 75, died Friday morning at 1:30 at her home in Smithville. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Smithville Methodist Church by Rev. Thornton FOWLER, pastor. For several years Mr. & Mrs. DOSIER made their home in Wilson County where Mr. DOSIER was a prominent businessman. Soon after the death of her husband, Mrs. DOSIER returned to her home at Smithville. Surviving are two sons: Tom DOSIER of Nashville and Louis Len DOSIER of Chattanooga; and several grandchildren. Burial was in the Smithville Cemetery. Seagraves & Gill were in charge.

Pleasant Grove-
The many friends of Lewis HART will regret to hear of his accidental death Thursday night.

Rev. John Harvey GRIME, 90 prominent religious leader throughout the South, died at his home near Lebanon on Hunters Point Pike Friday at noon. Rev. GRIME was widely known for his "History of Middle Tennessee Baptists" and his "Catechism of Ecclestical History". He was also the author of about 30 other publications dealing with religious subjects. He had preached in practically all of the Baptist churches in Wilson, Smith, DeKalb, Trousdale, Cannon, White, Putnam, and Rutherford counties. He also held pastorates in Kentucky and Texas during his 65 years as an ordained minister. The last pastorate held by Rev. GRIME was the Grant Baptist Church in Smith County. He retired from the ministry about 10 years ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Round Lick Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 by Rev. Hoyt HUDDLESTON and Rev. H.F. BURNS of Nashville, assisted by 10 other ministers. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lassie Young GRIME; one son, Hall GRIME of Lebanon; one daughter, Miss Sarah Lois GRIME of Texas; a niece, Mrs. Jeff GENTRY of Cookeville; and 6 grandchildren. Burial was in Jones Cemetery at Watertown. [This was a very lengthy obituary and is not here in its entirety.]

Wilson County News - Thursday, August 21, 1941

Pg. 1 - 
L.D. WEST, 60, operator of the Lighthouse Inn on Nashville Pike, went on trial for his life Monday morning with Judge John M. MITCHELL on the bench. WEST was charged with the murder of Ernest APPLE, age 20 and an employee of the Lebanon Garment Factory, on March 8. B.B. APPLE, father of the murdered man, will be one of the witnesses for the State.

Harry Richard ANDERSON, 84, retired LaGuardo farmer, died at a local hospital Friday afternoon at 12:30 following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at the LaGuardo Baptist Church by Rev. J.E. WOLF. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Hugh J. NORTHAN of Nashville; two sons: R.G. ANDERSON of LaGuardo and M.F. ANDERSON of Nashville; two sisters: Mrs. Tom GARRETT of Martha and Mrs. Cora LENOIR of Smyrna; one brother, Hugh ANDERSON of Nashville; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the LaGuardo Cemetery with Seagraves & Gill in charge of arrangements.

The FITE reunion was held at the Shop Springs school Sunday, August 10. A large crowd was present.

Mr. & Mrs. Dorris BLAND have chosen the name of Shelby Lou for their infant daughter born last Friday.

Mrs. Gertrude FAKES, 69, died at her home on S. Maple St. Monday morning at 4:30. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 at the Methodist church by Rev. H.M. JARVIS of Goodlettsville, former pastor of the local church. Surviving are two daughters: Miss Lenora NEWBY of Lebanon and Mrs. Lillard LAYNE of Old Hickory; one brother, James SPENCER of St. Louis, Missouri; and two grandchildren: Mary E. and Dean LAYNE of Old Hickory. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge.

Betty Ann Smith, 6 month old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wallace SMITH, died at the home of her parents Tuesday morning at 1:30. A prayer service was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 by Rev. Hoyt HUDDLESTON. Surviving are her parents and one sister, Miss Dorothy SMITH; and her grandfather, Sam SMITH. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements. [The headline of this obituary read "Betty Ann Smith, 6 year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wallace SMITH but the body of the obituary stated 6 months old.]

George A. BRADLEY, 83, died at his home near Bellwood Monday morning at 9:00 after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at the home of Harvey YOUNG of the Cross Roads community. Mr. BRADLEY is survived by one niece and two nephews [not named], all of Oklahoma. Burial was in the Bradley family cemetery near the home. Ligon & Son were in charge.

Mrs. Fanny Hawthorne NEAL, 70, died at her home in Watertown Tuesday morning at 9:00 following an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church in Watertown at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. For the past several years Mrs. NEAL has taken an active interest in the agricultural program. Prior to her illness she was also active in church work. Surviving are three daughters [only 2 named]: Mrs. Wilson THOMPSON and Mrs. Louise NEAL of Watertown; three sons: Henry Clarence NEAL of Watertown, Julian NEAL of Birmingham, and Jordan NEAL of Canton, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Paul SWINDELL of Aiden, Delaware; one brother, J.B. HAWTHORNE of Hartsville; and 8 grandchildren. Burial was in the Neal Cemetery in Watertown.

Sam Valrus TRIPP died in a Davidson County hospital Wednesday morning at 7:30 following an illness of several months. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3:00 at the Ligon and Son Funeral Home on West Main Street. Survivors are one son, Clyde TRIPP of Nashville; four daughters: Misses Louise, Evelyn and Mildred TRIPP, and Mrs. Smith DODSON, all of Lebanon; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. T.V. TRIPP; one brother, W.F. TRIPP of Lebanon; and 1 granddaughter, Brenda TRIPP of Nashville. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.

William Harvey ETHRIDGE, 66, died at his home on Murfreesboro Pike Thursday night at 11:00 after an illness of 4 weeks. Funeral services were conducted at the Ligon & Son Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10:00 by Rev. Hoyt HUDDLESTON. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nancy Hobbs ETHRIDGE; three sons: John ETHRIDGE of Lebanon, Walter ETHRIDGE of Statesville, and Emerson ETHRIDGE of Abilene, Texas; two daughters: Mrs. Bill SANDERS of Lebanon and Mrs. Claude GARRISON of Nashville; one brother, Marcus Eugene ETHRIDGE of Pulaski; and several grandchildren. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery

Mrs. Jonnie Belle JACKSON, 67, died at her home near Centerville on Sunday afternoon at 6:30. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the home by Rev. Henry RUSSELL, pastor of the Murfreesboro Baptist Church. Survivors are one son, Tim JACKSON of Lebanon; three daughters: Mrs. Emerson SULLIVAN and Mrs. W.E. STEPHENS of Lebanon, and Mrs. W.M. WILKES of Lafayette, Georgia; and 7 grandchildren. Burial was in the family cemetery near the home with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Laura Elizabeth HANKINS, 66, died at her home on Rt. 3 Lebanon Sunday, August 31, at 3:00 after and extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 4:30 at the Bettis Cemetery near Hunter's Point by Bro. Lewis JACKSON. Surviving are her husband, R.E. HANKINS; one daughter, Mrs. George MAYNARD of Nashville; one son, Carloss M. HANKINS of Camp Robinson, Arkansas; and three brothers: W.B. and P.S. SMITH of near Lebanon, and Lex SMITH of Sickeston, Missouri. Burial was in the Bettis Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements.

Mr. & Mrs. W.R. JAMISON of Gladeville are the proud parents of a baby boy, William Ray Jr., who was born recently at Martha Gaston Hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. Howard EADES of New Baird's Mill are being congratulated on the arrival of an infant son born Monday morning at McFarland Hospital.

Sam BOULTON, 57, a local resident all his life until 5 years ago, died last Wednesday in El Centro, California where he had been living in the home of his sister, Mrs. M.G. GIBBS. Local relatives received word that Mr. BOULTON took his life by hanging himself. He had been in ill health for the last two years. Local survivors are a sister, Mrs. Hattie ORGAN and two nephews, Cecil and Chester ORGAN.

George Gore DENNEY, 76, died at his home in Nashville last Thursday afternoon following an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 Saturday morning at the home of his son, Henry R. DENNEY, on Murfreesboro Road by Elder R.V. CAWTHON of Mt. Juliet. Surviving, in addition to his son, is his wife, Mrs. Lettie DENNEY; five daughters: Mrs. Walter BASKIN of Lebanon, Mrs. Delia LANNOM and Mrs. S.L. McKENNEY of Nashville, Mrs. L.B. BLACKBURN of Rome, and Mrs. Robert POLK of Old Hickory; and five sons: C.P. DENNEY of Lebanon, W.L. and Austin C. DENNEY of Donelson, W.M. DENNEY of Mt. Juliet, and Clifton DENNEY of Nashville. Burial was in the Hickman Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge.

Mrs. Debbie Emma HAMLIN, 43, died at a local hospital Saturday afternoon at 6:30 after a long illness. A brief prayer service was conducted at the home of her son, Gabriel HAMLIN, on Pennsylvania Ave. Sunday morning at 8:00 by Rev. Dean STROUD, pastor of the Lebanon Methodist Church. The body was carried to Chapel Hill in Carroll County where funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Mrs. HAMLIN was the widow of the late Hugh Porter HAMLIN, owner and manager of the Cumberland Valley Cheese Company here, who died in March. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements.

An announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Jewell Madalyn SPERRY, daughter of the late Mrs. H.P. CAWTHON, to Hoyal F. JOHNSON, son of Mrs. H.A. PHELPS of Nashville and the late Hoyal JOHNSON. The wedding is to be solemnized on September 19 at 8:00 in the evening at the Church of Christ. The announcement is made today by J. Douglas WRIGHT, cousin of the bride elect.

Miss Bettye Kate PRICHARD, daughter of Mrs. Katherine PRICHARD, and Alvin A. HALL, JR., son of Mr. & Mrs. Alvin A. HALL of Shop Springs, were united in marriage at an impressive twilight ceremony Saturday evening at 7:00 at the Methodist Church. Rev. Dean STROUD officiated.

Mr. & Mrs. Will Houston CATHCART announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Billie Love, to Howard HUDDLESTON, son of Mrs. & Mrs. Alvin P. HUDDLESTON. The wedding will take place Thursday afternoon, September 11, at the home of the officiating minister, Rev. B.J. JACKSON.

Robert Lee ENOCH, 71, died at his home near Shop Springs Wednesday morning at 2:15 following an illness of a dew days. Funeral services will be conducted this morning at 11:00 at the Ligon & Son Funeral Home by Rev. Hoyt HUDDLESTON. Surviving are two sons: Tom and Jim ENOCH; and five daughters: Mrs. Melvin BOWERS, Mrs. H.E. APPLE, Miss Mary ENOCH of Jackson, Miss Lorena ENOCH and Miss Irene ENOCH. Burial will be in the family cemtery near New Middleton. Ligon & Son are in charge of these arrangements.

"Uncle" Arch BAINS was found dead at his home on Knight Creek Friday afternoon, September 3. He was thought to have died in the early part of the night before. He was well known over the country for the tying of good brooms. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sam LANIER; and four sons: Zear, Artle, Newbern, and Purnell. He was buried September 4 at a small graveyard in Jaco Hollow. Tollie PATTON had charge of the funeral.

Funeral services for J. Wiseman HEAD, 55, former Lebanon businessman, were conducted Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Nashville. Mr. HEAD died in a Nashville hospital Thursday afternoon at 5:15 following a heat attack. He was a native of Wilson County and owner of the Head Drug Co. in Lebanon about 17 years ago. Since that time he has operated a drug store in Nashville. Mr. HEAD was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Sigma Epsilon fraternity and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ann Whorton HEAD; three sisters: Mrs. Ed VAUGHN of Cairo, Illinois, Mrs. John LOCKET and Mrs. Floyd McKEE, both of Los Angeles, California; two brothers: Richard and Marcellus HEAD, both of Dustin, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Seagraves & Gill assisted the McMillan & Hibbit Funeral Directors of Donelson with the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Sue Eakes DIES, 45, died at her home on Fesseler Lane near Nashville Saturday night at 8:00. Funeral services were conducted at the Ligon & Son Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 4:00 by Elder R.V. CAWTHON of Mt. Juliet. Mrs. DIES was the daughter of T.H. EAKES and the late Mrs. EAKES of Mt. Juliet. She was born and reared in Wilson County. Surviving in addition to her father are three daughters: Mrs. A.H. EARHEART and Mrs. H.A. COLTON, both of Hermitage, and Miss Margaret DIES of Nashville; one son, Cecil DIES of Nashville; three brothers: Luther and T.H. EAKES of Mt. Juliet, and B.T. EAKES of Donelson; seven sisters: Mrs. G.W. STARNES, Mrs. J.T. WEAVER, Mrs. B.L. LINDER, Mrs. Pearl RAYMER, Mrs. W.H. NOKES, Mrs. Harry KNIGHT, and Miss Eula EAKES, all of Nashville; and 2 grandchildren. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie JENKINS, 74, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gale LIGON, on Franklin Road last Thursday afternoon at 1:15. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 3:00 at the Ligon & Son Funeral Home by Rev. John W. BEASLEY of Nashville. Mrs. JENKINS was born and reared in the 22nd district. She was the wife of the late C.W. JENKINS who died in February 1937. Since her husband's death she has taken an active interest in the agricultural program. Surviving in addition to her daughter is one son, Loyd JENKINS of Lebanon; two sisters: Mrs. Susie CURTIS and Mrs. Maude SWEENEY of Hendersonville; six brothers: Lyell JENKINS of Mt. Juliet, Burnett JENKINS of LaGuardo, Sam and Bob JENKINS of Hendersonville, Walter JENKINS of Oklahoma, and Dock JENKINS of Stewart's Ferry; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence HANKINS of Lebanon. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Layne MILLER, 31, died at her home on W. High St. Tuesday night at 11:20. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 at the Church of Christ by Elder C.L. OVERTURF, pastor. Surviving are three children: Ann, Gordon and Kenneth MILLER; her mother, Mrs. Josie LAYNE; three sisters: Miss Abbie LAYNE, Mrs. Givens PHILLIPS of Chillicothe, Alabama, and Mrs. George PAINTER of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers: Frank, Sam, and Bruce LAYNE; and her grandmother, Mrs. Abbie VANTREASE. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements.

Miss Bessie Lou MORGAN, 27, died last Friday afternoon at her home near Leeville at 3:50 following an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Leeville Methodist Church by Rev. E.H. HALL, pastor. Surviving is her mother, Mrs. Annie MORGAN; and two brothers: Carl and Odell MORGAN, all of near Leeville. Burial was in Leeville Cemetery with Ligon & Son in charge.

Funeral services for Sandra Faye PULLEY, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Woodrow Wilson PULLEY of Lebanon, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00 by Rev. Glenn HUDSON of Centerville. The baby was born at a local hospital Sunday night at 11:00. Burial was in the Jackson Cemetery near the home with Ligon & Son in charge.

Pg. 1 - 
Robert THOMPSON, Lebanon youth, was killed almost instantly last night at 8:00 when a laundry truck in which he was riding collided with a Southwestern express truck on Nashville Pike 12 miles from Lebanon. THOMPSON, who was about 19 years old was the son of Mrs. Mamie THOMPSON of the corner of Short and South College St. THOMPSON was pinned underneath the wreckage of both vehicles for over an hour while workmen unloaded the Southwestern truck in order to extricate the body which was brought to Lebanon in a Ligon & Son ambulance. THOMPSON's brother, Harry, had left Lebanon earlier yesterday afternoon to enter the U.S. Army.

Mrs. Daisy ASHE, 55, died at her home near Saulsbury yesterday morning at 9:00 and is reported to have been hanging in the kitchen where it is believed she took her life. Mrs. ASHE was highly esteemed and her death is a shock to her many friends and neighbors. She has been in ill health for some time. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. Survivors are her husband, F.H. ASHE; one daughter, Mrs. Denver BATES of near Saulsbury; one son, Joseph ASHE who is stationed at Parris Island, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted at Saulsbury Baptist Church by Rev. J.E. McDONALD and Rev. Carter JOHNSON. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery with Seagraves & Gill in charge.

Statesville-
The arrival of a little son to Mr. & Mrs. J.L. STROUD of Lithia Springs, Georgia will be of interest to their friends here. Mrs. STROUD and baby are at the Woodbury, Tennessee Hospital at present. They will be with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Cletus MIDGETT of Greenvale, for a few weeks before returning to Georgia.

Linwood-
Mac SIMMS died at the age of 106 years Saturday, September 6, in Nashville. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the residence. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Pleasant Grove-
George SHARPE passed away Tuesday at noon and the funeral was Wednesday at 2:00 on Lebanon Road at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. HOLLAND. His wife just passed away a few months ago.

John BENNETT, 61, of Commerce, died in a local hospital Saturday night following an illness of two weeks. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10:00 at the Commerce Presbyterian Church by Rev. Carter JOHNSTON of Lebanon, assisted by Rev. W.P. GEORGE of Commerce and Rev. HOOPER of Tucker's Cross Roads. Surviving are his wife (not named); two daughters: Miss Roberta BENNETT of Commerce and Miss Grace BENNETT of Nashville; two sons: John and Eldred BENNETT of Nashville; one brother, Fred BENNETT of Obion County; and five sisters (not named). Burial was in the Poplar Hill Cemetery. [John Emmerson BENNETT was born in Wilson Co. January 10, 1880 and died September 20, 1941. He was married first to Bertha LAWRENCE on Dec. 14, 1902. Bertha was the daughter of Eli & Virginia LAWRENCE and was born September 26, 1885 and died January 2, 1925. John BENNETT married for the second time to Julia Mae Midgett on June 2, 1926 in Nashville. Julia Mae Midgett was the daughter of Hugh Mac Midgett and Martha Talitha Barbee. She was born May 19, 1883 in Saulsbury and died in Lavergne on May 31, 1972.]

Funeral services for Robert THOMPSON, 19, who was killed in an automobile accident on Nashville Pike last Wednesday evening were conducted Friday morning at 10:00 at Ligon & Son Funeral Home by Elder C.L. OVERTURF, pastor of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mamie THOMPSON of Lebanon; two brothers: Wade and Harris THOMPSON, both of Lebanon; one sister, Mrs. John BURNS of Old Hickory; and a half-brother (not named). BELCHER; two daughters: Mrs. Laura Elizabeth WILLIAMS and Mrs. Daisy HANKINS; two sisters: Mrs. Polly FOSTER and Miss Mady BELCHER, all of Wilson County. Burial was in the Chapman Cemetery near Hunter's Point with Ligon & Son in charge of arrangements.
