7.1.5. Hulda Sherrill, daughter of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas, b. 27 Jan 1791. Marriage license issued 11 Jan 1811. M. 16 Jan 1811 to Eddings Chandler, in Wilson County, Tennessee. Issue:

The following information was recorded by W.A.S., 9 Mar 1972. It was obtained from Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, of Floydada, Texas, part to the compiler, W.A.S., 1972, and part to Wanda Clark in 1980.

7.1.7. Elizabeth Thomas Sherrill, dau. of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas, b.14 Sep 1796 in Wilson County, TN. M.,1823, in Wilson Co., TN, to Amos Bone, son of William Bone and Margaret Lansden. He was b. ca 1792 in Wilson County, TN. He d. ca 1859 in Iredell County, TN. Issue:

1. William L. Bone, b. 1826, in Wilson Co., TN.
2. Ann Elizabeth Bone, b. 1830, in Wilson Co., TN.
3. Almira Cornelia Bone, b. 1833, in Wilson Co., TN.
4. Margaret Melissa Bone, b. 1838, in Wilson Co., TN. M. Raymond Ward.
5. Samuel Wilson Bone.

Amos Bone was the son of William Bone and Margaret Lansden, and the grandson of John A. Bone, Sr., and Margaret Hill, who was the daughter of David Hill and Jane (?).The migratory route followed by the Bone family parallels that of William Sherrill,The Conestoga Fur Trader, after arriving from Ireland. They migrated from Chester County, and/or Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, then to Fladen County, North Carolina, later to be part of Rowan County, then Iredell County. They came to Wilson County, Tennessee, only a few years after Jacob Sherrill, Sr., and his wife, Hulda Wilson arrived. Traditionally, the Bones arrived in Wilson County in 1805.

The following information was recorded by W.A.S., 12 Dec 1974. It was obtained partially from an unknown source, and from Wanda Clark, Wilson County Marriage Bonds, dated 19 Jan 1820, Norvel Douglas, Surety.

7.1.8. Rebecca S. Sherrill, dau. of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas, b. 6 Jan 1800. The Bible record of Samuel Wilson Sherrill, III, spelled her name as Rebeckah, but the older Samuel Wilson Sherrill's will dated 23 Sep 1923, spelled his daughter's name as Rebecca. She was m. 19 Jan 1920 in Wilson County, TN, to Zachariah Tolliver. She d. 6 Nov 1874. Issue:

1. Newman Tolliver m. Amelia Britton.
2. Jane Tolliver m. (?) Lillard, M.D. They lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
3. Mary Tolliver m. Col. Robert E. Thompson, LL.D.
4. Priscilla Tolliver

 

Reuanna Newman Sherrill (daughter of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas and some of her descendants

The following information was recorded 12 Dec 1974 by W.A.S. It was obtained from Madge Mallory Griffith, Wilson County, Tennessee, Marriages, Alanson Sherrill, Surety for John Perkins. (The name, Reuanna found with many spellings.) Wanda Clark. Frances Hodges.

7.1.9. Reuanna Newman Sherrill, dau. of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas b.17 Aug 1803. M. John Perkins (License-8 Feb 1827). Alanson Sherrill, brother of Reuanna, signed their marriage bond.) in Wilson Co., TN. John Perkins, son of (?) Perkins and Elizabeth Owen (There is an 88 at this point-perhaps indicates age at death.) John Perkins was a grandson of Richard Perkins and Mary Sherrill, a sister of Adam Sherrill, The Pioneer. Reuanna d. 20 May 1846 and was buried in a pasture at John Perkins home. Large boulder marks the spot. Issue:

4. Julia Emeline Perkins, b. 17 Apr 1834 in Wilson Co., TN. M. James Henry Campbell in 1850. D. Jul (two dates given 1906, 1918) in Sylvan Co., TX.
5. Mary Jane Perkins b. 19 Aug 1836 in Wilson Co. TN. M. Richard Bettes, (after her sister, Margaret's death. Margaret was his first wife.)
6. Serena Lou Ellen Perkins, b. 29 Oct (1839, 1840). M. Montgomery Owen on 26 May 1856. D.16 Oct 1886.
7. Lee W. Perkins b.1 Apr 1842. Lee died while on furlough during the Civil War, at the home of Richard Bettes.

Following the death of Reuanna Newman Sherrill, John Perkins married her first cousin, Mary "Polly" Sherrill (1.1.7.4.7), She was the daughter of Abel Sherrill and Annie Thomas, born 25 Oct 1807. They were married on 12 October 1848, in Wilson County, Tennessee. Issue:

1. Eliza A. Perkins, b. 10 Feb 1851. Died young.
2. Etta John Perkins m. Lafayette Wade.
3. James Fite Perkins
4. Alice Perkins
5. Flora Perkins m. (?) Edwards

 

Hughe Sherrill (second "Hugh" born to Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas) and some of his descendants

The following information was recorded 12 Dec 1974 by W.A.S. It was obtained from Bible Records, Mr. Thurman D. Glenn, Plano, Texas from Margaret Reed, 1839 Guardianship, Court records, 1840 Court Records, 1844 Court Records, Census.

7.1.10. Hughe Sherrill (second "Hugh" b. to this couple, Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas, the first having died.) This Hughe b. 5 May 1806 in Wilson County, TN. He was the son of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas. He m.18 Feb 1829 to Jane Scoby (or Scobey), daughter of James Scobey and Polly (Mary) (?). Hughe d. 28 Jul 1836. After his death, Jane married Robert P. Sweat on 7 Dec 1843. Children born to Hughe and Jane were the following although the chronological order of births is not known:

1. Saraphine Elizabeth Sherrill, b. 1833, in Wilson Co., TN. M. William Adolphus Waters, M.D., 31 Mar 1847. She d. ca 1863. It appears that Saraphine Elizabeth was called "Sarah." She and Dr. Waters moved to Sebastian Co. AR. During the Civil War, they left the area where they were living, due to raids, and moved to Ft. Smith, AR. The numbers of citizens who did this put a strain on the Army who sent groups of citizens to Little Rock and to Kansas.

3. Adolphus Jerome Sherrill
4. Hugh L. White Sherrill

The following information was recorded 8 Feb 1981 by Thurman Glenn, Plano, TX. It was obtained from W. A. Water's tombstone, 1850 and 1860 Arkansas Census, Jessie Waters, Myra Flippo and Family knowledge.

7.1.10.1. Saraphine "Sarah" Elizabeth Sherrill, dau. of Hughe Sherrill and Jane Scobey, b. in Wilson Co., TN. ca 1832-33. M. 31 Mar 1847, to William Adolphus Waters, M. D., of Lebanon, Wilson Co., TN. He was the son of Selah Waters, Jr. and Sarah "Sally" Clark. Saraphine died ca 1863, supposedly in Sebastian Co. AR. William Adolphus m. (2) Elizabeth Matalda Satterlee Topper in 1865. He d. 12 Aug 1870, in Salem (Now Witcherville,) AR, shot and killed by William Belt. He was buried on the family farm, Dayton, Sebastian Co., AR. Children of Saraphine Elizabeth Sherrill and William Adolphus Waters were:

1. Sarah Waters b. 1847, probably in White, AR.
2. Napoleon "Po" Jerome Waters b. 25 Mar 185l, in White, AR. M. Nancy Barrett (Barid?), 24 Jun 1874. D.13 Dec 1931 in Sebastian, AR.

Alanson Nunnion Sherrill (son of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas) and some of his descendants

The following information was recorded 12 Dec 1974 by W.A.S. It was obtained from Samuel B. Sherrill ledger, dated 1893, W. E. Sherrill of Haskell, TX, and Wanda Clark.

7.1.11. Alanson Nunnion Sherrill (also found Newman, Newnan), son of Samuel Wilson Sherrill and Elizabeth Thomas, b. 9 Sep 1808, in Wilson Co., TN. M. Elizabeth McEwen (also found McEwing). Alanson Nunnion d. 1 Mar 1832. His will dated 12 Feb 1832, is recorded in Wilson Co., TN, and names his wife, Elizabeth, a son, Hiram T. Sherrill. He did not mention his daughter, Daisy, who was residing in Columbus, MS, when W. E. Sherrill compiled his work.
