This is a picture of the old Whitten School located in the south part of Wayne County near the state line, the year 1917. The teacher, standing at right, is Wayland Haddock, who was unable to complete the school term when he went in service for World War I. The picture, made by Albert Olive, is the property of the late George Olive and was submitted to The News for publication by his daughter, Mrs. Nadean Reeves.
