Be it known unto all men by these presents that I, John MITCHELL, of the county of Sumner and
State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the love and duty of my son, James MITCHELL to
me and the love I have for him and other valuable considerations have given and by these presents
do give grant and confirm unto him all my right, title claim and interest to my parcel of land which
I hold in deed from John W. Byrn ____ for two hundred and twenty-five acres said son paying all
the costs that may come against my estate concerning the law suits and for said land and also my
part of the purchase money which is $100 ___ at the sale of P. H. Darby?s interest in the 6110
acre tract of land of which above mentioned tract is a part. Be it further known that I in the same
manner on the same conditions and for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm
unto my daughter Elizabeth SIMS one hundred and ninety acres of land I hold in deed from
Thomas Scurry, also twelve acres of the north end of my north fifty acre entry. Also two cows
and calves, four head of sheep, and ten hogs. Be it further known that I in the same manner on the
same conditions and for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my
daughter Maria McKOIN fifty-three and one-half acres of the northeast corner of the tract of land
I hold in deed from Bledsoes where she now lives divided from Delias part of said Bledsoes tract
by Beginning at an Elm & white oak near the old spring on the south side of the branch in said
Bledsoe tract & running west as many degrees north up said branch as will strike a marked Sugar
tree where said branch intersects the west line of said Bledsoe tract also divided from Louisas part
of said Bledsoe tract by running north from said Elm & white oak to the north line of said Bledsoe
Tract also a seventeen & a half acre tract of land I hold in deed from Abisha Williams also fifteen
acres & a half of land I hold in deed from Andrew McCormack where Scott lived. Also thirty
acres of the seventy one acre tract of land I hold by grant . Also the following Negroes Crip
Sylvia Louisiana & Peter.
Be it further known that I in the same manner on the same conditions & for the same
consideration do give grant and convey & confirm unto my daughter Louisa POSEY one hundred
acres of land I hold in deed from James Clendenning also forty five acres of the East side of the
tract of land I hold in deed from bledsoes divided from Delias part of said Bledsoe tract by
running south from said Elm & white oak to the south boundary line of said Bledsoe tract also
eleven acres of the south end of my north fifty acre entry adjoining Joseph WATTONS land also a
twelve acre tract of land I hold by entry adjoining Allsions land also the following Negroes Harry
& Lucky also two cows & calves 4 head of sheep and ten head of hogs.
Be it further known that I in the same manner on the same conditions & for the same
considerations do give grant and convey & confirm unto my daughter Lucy MITCHELL one
hundred acres of land I hold in deed from Thomas GRANNOR? Also fifty acres of land of the
East side of the tract of land I hold in Deed from R CAGE to be run off parallel with the west end
of said GRAINORS tract also Eleven acres of my north fifty acre entry. Also the following
Negroes, General Dirier? And Charity. Also my Dragon horse. Also two cows & calves, 4 head of
sheep and ten head of hogs. Be it further known than I in the same manner on the same conditions
and for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my son Leroy
MITCHELL two hundred and one acres of land I hold in two deeds from Ezekiel DOUGLAS
adjoining King PARKERS land. Also eighteen acres of the north End of my south fifty acres entry
adjoining Joseph WATTONS land also the following Negroes. Aron Hartwell Matilda and
Reulon? Also my three year old _____(looks like pracolet) horse, my saddle and bridle. Also one
third part of my books. Also after my just debts are paid one third part of all my property of every
kind unless or except such articles as are given to some of my other children or others by special
description of this date. Be it further known that I n the same manner on the same conditions &
for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my daughter Deliane
MITCHELL fifty two acres of the south west corner of the tract of land I hold in deed from
bledsoes also a twenty acre & a half acre tract of land I hold in deed from David SHELBY. Also a
seventeen and a half tract of land I hold in Deed from Henry R. WILLIS. Also a thirty five acre
tract of land I hold in Deed from John BRIGGANCE & George DIMCEY?. Also a seventeen and
a half acre tract of land I hold in Deed from Isaac LOONEY. Also a thirteen acre tract of land I
hold by Grant also the following Negroes, Isaac & Evelina. Also my Little Sorrel Horse. Also one
bed & furniture. Also fifty dollars to buy her a saddle, bridle Bureau & Bedstead. Also two cows
& calves, four head of sheep and Ten Head of hogs.
Be it further known that I in the same manner on the same conditions & for the same
considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my son John MITCHELL a three hundred
and twenty acre tract of land be the same more or less that I hold in deed from Mathew BOLES
and others known by the name of Jonesborough. Also sixteen acres of ____, south fifty acre
entry. Also the following Negroes, George Jesse Harriet and Mary. Also my two year old ____
colt. Also one third part of my books . Also after my just debts are paid one third part of all my
property of every kind unless or except such articles as are given to some of my other children or
otherwise by special description of this date. Be it further known that I in the same manner on the
same conditions & for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my
daughter Martha MITCHELL one hundred and forty acres of east end of the tract of land I hold
deed from Jean Kukendall. Also twenty acres of land I hold in deed from Andrew McCORMACK
adjoinging Mathew ARMSTRONG and west line also a 5 acre tract I hold by entry. Also the
following Negroes, Abraham & Mahala. Also my ___ mares yearling colt. Also one bed and
furniture, two cows and calves, four head of sheep, ten head of hogs and fifty dollars to buy her a
saddle bridle , bureau and a bedstead. Be it also further known in the same manner on the same
conditions and for the same considerations do give grant convey and confirm unto my son William
MITCHELL one hundred and sixty-five acres of that west and of the tract of land I hold in deed
from Jane KIRKENDALL containing the mansion house ___ bounded south by Crasnoy
acres.
Mont Councies original north boundary lines also one hundred and sixty two acres of the north
end and west side of the tract of land I hold in deed from R. CAGE being the ballance of Cage
tract not given to Lucy. Also sixteen acres of the South end of my South fifty acre entry
containing the Knob Spring. Also the following Negroes Jude Hardy Robin And Nelson. Also my
Kate mares youngest calt. Also my Rifle gun. Also one third part of my books. Also after my just
debts are paid one third part of all my property of any kind unless or except such articles as are
given to some of my other children or otherwise by special description of this date. Be it further
known that I give grant convey and confirm unto my grandson John McKOIN a fifty-five acre
tract of land I hold by grant where Scott has a lease. Be it further known that I retain all the above
conveyance for the support of myself and family during my natural life. Further after my death I
still retain for the comfortable support of my wife, Lovy MITCHELL & her family during her
widowhood in her natural life the use of one hundred and sixty sis acres of the west end of the
tract of land I hold in Deed from Jane KIRKENDALL containing the mansion House . Also the
use during the same time of the following Negroes, viz. Aron George Diner & Lude. Also the use
of Peter & Henry for seven years. Also the use of Delians and Marthas land untill they are sixteen
years old. Also my cotton Gin and press(?) Horse Mill & their appurtenances. Also the following
horses Ball nance Cate & Lawhorn. Also all my cattle sheep and hogs. Also my waggon & gear,
cart and yokes & or in Log sham?, geese & poultry. All my corn wheat & fodder, ____ potatoes
& all my salt sugar coffee brandy & bread and sauce. One hundred pounds of gined cotton my gig
& harness, all my bacon beef & lard all that is contained in my cellar & smoke houses all my
farming tools of every kind my loom & spinning wheels _____ all my kitchen furniture of every
kind all my books beads & furniture all my household furniture of every kind my still also one
hundred dollars to be raised out of the money that is due me my bridles all my present growing
crops of every thing is raised. The property before mentioned of whatever kind if not given to any
one of my children but given to my wife is given to her during her widowhood in her natural life
& may by her be disposed of as she may think fit amongst our children. Hereby conveying the
above gifts both in Law and Equity to them severally & their heirs forever. In witness whereof I
do here unto set my hand and seal this 24th day of May AD 1826. Signed sealed acknowledged &
delivered in presence of us.

MITCHELL, Delian MITCHELL, John MITCHELL, Martha MITCHELL, William MITCHELL
& his grandson John McKOIN bearing date 24th May 1826_____ real & personal estate of every
description was duly proven in open court by the oat of Elijah BODDIE & James BAKER
subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be registered a copy text.
