Note from the transcribers - of the above named people, S. C. Franklin, John Franklin and Mary Ann Crenshaw were the children of Richard Franklin born 1779 and his wife Mary Thompson born 1782. Martha Ann Bate has not been positively identified, but it is probable the same as is referred to in Goodspeed's History of Tennessee, Sumner, Smith, Trousdale Counties page 853: Humphrey H. Bate, M. D. married 27 October 1869 Martha A. Franklin born near Hartsville 1846. John Franklin lives in District #1 in the 1850 Census of Sumner Co. TN.
